This presentation will be about the child refugees from the Greek Civil War of 1946-1949. Their story is not very well known, yet it is perhaps one of the saddest events in human history. This topic greatly interests me because it involves minorities that are persecuted in Greece.

6. Upon attempting to visit their family and their
homes, 300 child political refugees were told that
their cities or villages did not exist. They were
prevented entry into Greece, a democratic
country, because they called their places of birth
by their native tongue—Macedonian. Greece

minorities within its borders, clinging to the idea of
a “93% ethnically pure nation” (CIA World
