8. ´´LA PEPA´´
The Spanish Constitution of 1812.2
popularly known as La Pepa or The
Constitution of Cadiz , 3 was enacted
by the Parliament of Spain ,
extraordinarily gathered in Cadiz, on
19 March 1812. It has held great
historical importance because it the first
constitution promulgated in Spain , 4 in
addition to being one of the most liberal of
his time. Regarding the origin of his
nickname, Pepa , is not yet clear , but it
seems that was an indirect appeal after its
repeal to refer to it , because it was enacted
on the day of San José . It was officially in
effect only two years since its enactment
until its repeal in Valencia on May 4, 1814 .

The Spanish Civil War was a social ,
political and military conflict which

crisis that erupted in Spain after the
partial failure of the coup on 17 and 18
