Conan O’Brien was heavily involved in media in
college. After being the Editor of his high school
newspaper, he went on to Harvard University where
he wrote for the Harvard Lampoon humor magazine
and served as the President of the newspaper, The
Harvard Crimson. He graduated magna cum laude
with a degree in history and literature.
As it goes to show, media experience was very
helpful for Conan. Conan O’Brien is known for
Saturday Night Live, and more recently his late-night
talk show, Conan. All that time working on the
newspaper and magazine gave him the skills he has
today to be funny, informative, and entertaining on his
show.

Project
Mindy spent most of her college days working
in media by contributing to the Dartmouth
Hack-O-Lantern (the college humor
magazine), contributing to the newspaper
comic strip, and performing with an
improvisational group.
All of this experience ended up landing her a
job writing for The Office, which started off her
career as a comedy writer and actress.

Thomas Uger spent his college years
writing for the school newspaper, as well
as serving as the President.
While Thomas has not used his career to
become famous, his experience in media
has landed him a pretty high power job
working for KKR, alongside Kenneth
Mehlman.
8. Successful Example: Pete Cashmore
Career: Founder and CEO of Mashable
Pete Cashmore founded the popular
media and tech website, Mashable at 19.
Experience was not necessarily what
brought Mashable to life, but more from
Pete’s love of media and tech news, and
not a proper place to find it.
