2. How it was invented Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone on March 7th 1876. Although people say he was the inventor, Antonio Meucci was the first man to have a telephone. Alexander Graham Bell was the one who “re-made” it. Alexander wanted a simpler way to communicate over long and short distance. The first thing he said on the telephone was to his assistant, Thomas Watson. "Watson, come here! I need you!” Were the exact words.
