Online Discussions  Synchronous Events Campus Portfolio Building Group Work Format for Online Jams
Visual Key Online  Discussion Synchronous  Event Portfolio  Update Group Work Structure for Online Jams - 1
The Jam begins with a Synchronous Online event, possibly using WebEX or other online conferencing tool.   Campus leaders or invited speakers will make presentations to the participating group that introduces the Focus Topic for the Jam, and/or pose critical questions related to the Focus Topic.   This will be followed by a week-long discussion on an online discussion board and finally, as the end-product, each campus will update a designated section on their campus portfolios, related to the Focus Topic. Visual Key Online Discussion Portfolio Update Synchronous Event Group Work Structure for Online Jams - 1
The Jam begins with a week-long discussion on an online discussion board related to the Focus Topic, followed by a Synchronous Event towards the end of the Jam, where selected campuses will present their projects related to the Focus Topic.   The Jam concludes with each campus updating a designated section in their campus project portfolios. Structure for Online Jams - 2
Structure for Online Jams - 2 Visual Key Online Discussion Portfolio Update Synchronous Event Group Work
The Jam begins with small groups (of pre-selected campuses) looking at each others’ portfolios, focusing on the pages related to the Focus Topic, and posting comments on each others’ portfolios.   This is followed by a discussion in an online discussion forum, which serves as a place to bring together different pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, as campuses post their observations and answers to specific guide questions.     The outcome is each campus updating their portfolios based on what they learned through small group work and whole group discussion related to the Focus Topic. Structure for Online Jams - 3
Structure for Online Jams - 3 Visual Key Online Discussion Portfolio Update Synchronous Event Group Work
The Jam begins with whole group discussion, moderated by the leaders in an online discussion forum related to specific issues of the Focus Topic.   This is followed by commenting on each others’ Portfolios in a small group format. The event ends with each campus updating their portfolios based on the comments they received from their colleagues related to the Focus Topic. Structure for Online Jams - 4

  • 5. The Jam begins with a Synchronous Online event, possibly using WebEX or other online conferencing tool. Campus leaders or invited speakers will make presentations to the participating group that introduces the Focus Topic for the Jam, and/or pose critical questions related to the Focus Topic. This will be followed by a week-long discussion on an online discussion board and finally, as the end-product, each campus will update a designated section on their campus portfolios, related to the Focus Topic.   • 7. The Jam begins with a week-long discussion on an online discussion board related to the Focus Topic, followed by a Synchronous Event towards the end of the Jam, where selected campuses will present their projects related to the Focus Topic. The Jam concludes with each campus updating a designated section in their campus project portfolios. Structure for Online Jams - 2

The Jam begins with small groups (of pre-selected campuses) looking at each others’ portfolios, focusing on the pages related to the Focus Topic, and posting comments on each others’ portfolios. This is followed by a discussion in an online discussion forum, which serves as a place to bring together different pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, as campuses post their observations and answers to specific guide questions. The outcome is each campus updating their portfolios based on what they learned through small group work and whole group discussion related to the Focus Topic. Structure for Online Jams - 3

  • 11. The Jam begins with whole group discussion, moderated by the leaders in an online discussion forum related to specific issues of the Focus Topic.
