2. Technology Long-Range Planand NCLB In order to meet NCLB standards, Texas developed a long-range technology plan. NCLB mandates that ALL teachers be technologically literate and integrate technology into their instruction. The STaR Chart is designed to help teachers understand where they are in meeting the NCLB mandate.
3. Your STaR Chart The STaR chart should give you an idea of where you are in meeting the NCLB standard. Every teacher should be working toward reaching the “target” level for each of the 4 standards.
4. Four Standards The STaR chart is broken up into 4 standards. Each of these is an area in which teachers should be proficient.
5. Standard I: Teaching & Learning Target: I have created and integrated web-based lessons which include online TEKS-based content, resources, learning activities, and interactive communications that support learning objectives throughout the curriculum.
6. Standard II: Educator Preparation & Development Target: I have participated in professional development to create and integrate web based lessons or to teach content units or courses online.
7. Standard III: Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support Target: My campus leadership facilitates my use of online learning and supports my use with professional development.
8. Standard IV: Infrastructure for Technology Target: My students have simultaneous access to online learning with rich media such as streaming video, podcasts, applets, and animation, and sufficient bandwidth and storage to customize online instruction.
