  25. Author • Who has published this content? • Is there an author or authors and what are their credentials? Are they an expert on the topic? • Is the page part of an individual's site or part of an organization's site? • If an organization, is it reputable? Is contact information available? Bias • Does the author have a bias, take a position on an issue, or give only one side of the issue? • To what audience is the author writing? • Is the site trying to sell you something? • Are there political, ideological, cultural, religious, institutional, or personal biases? • Biased websites may include exaggerations, overgeneralizations, stereotypes, misleading details, or emotional language Credibility • Is the site free of obvious errors? • Where does the author get his/her information? • Does the author give proper attribution to borrowed information or knowledge (i.e. cite sources)? What is the domain ending of the URL? Common domain endings are .edu, .com, .gov, .org Date • When was the information published or posted? • Has the information been revised or updated? • Does your topic require current information, or will older sources work as well?
