I have watched the E-book craze across the internet and as a tech guru, I
know not to just jump right into a new market without doing my research.
So I poked around the market, I played with a sony reader, I checked out
the touch screen options, I downloaded kindle for my iPod, I even
downloaded the E-reader for my Android phone. But after sitting down with
a Kindle 2 at the library one day I knew that it was for me. I sit at a
computer doing my school work, my photography work, my writing. The
very last thing I want at the end of the day is to sit down to another
computer screen to read, instead I lose myself in the kindle, I stop realizing
that I am pushing a button to turn the page, I stop noticing the screen
refresh between page turns, its small, light, and it just melts away. As
Amazon stated it was one of their main goals with creating the Kindle2.
The text is crisp, yes it could benefit from color for periodicals and the
such, but how many of your novels have color illustrations? This is a
reader, and it should stay as such, the reviews stating that it should have
apps, and multitouch, and all of the bells and whistles of an iPad, are
disillusioned to what the kindle actually is. It is meant to replace the books
on your shelf and combine them all into one tiny little package, it is not
meant as a multimedia techy gadget. It is a single media home run. If you
are in the market for a toy that plays games, music, surfs the web, and
reads books get an iPad. If you are in the market for a simple to use, crisp
easy on the eyes e-reader with a wonderful selection of books, and 3G
downloading, get a kindle 2 you will not be upset with your choice.
That being said I would like to see the next version wifi compatible, I live in
a extremely rural area where the 3G/edge network does not cover, I spend
a lot of time in an area a short distance from my home that does have

mention loading books from my computer is just as fast and easy.
