WHAT IS RASPBERRY PI ? A single board, very flexible, four watt mini computer in $35 (model B) and $25 (model A) flavors designed and made in the UK. A powerful programming environment. It also allows user to surf internet. It operates on Linux operating system and does not supports windows operating system.
  3. 3. HISTORY OF RASPBERRY PI The Raspberry Pi Foundation –charity founded in 2009 to promote the study of basic computer science in schools, and is responsible for developing a single-board computer called the Raspberry Pi.
  4. 4. HARDWARE DISCRIPTION  Broadcom system on-chip BCM2835 which contains ARM 11,700MHz processor.  graphics chip, as it supports HDMI.  program memory (RAM). various interfaces and connectors for external devices.
  5. 5. AVAILABLE MODELS MODEL A :  Technical Features :  Memory Features : 256MB SDRAM.  Ethernet : None.  USB 2.0 : Single USB connector.  Video Output : HDMI / Composite RCA.  Audio Output : 3.5mm jack, HDMI.  Onboard Storage : SD,MMC,SDIO card slot.  Dimensions: 8.6cmx5.4cmx1.5cm

  8. 8. ESSENTIALS TO GET STARTED SD card containing Linux Operating system.  USB keyboard.  TV or monitor (with HDMI, DVI, Composite or SCART input).  Power supply. Video cable to suit the TV or monitor used.
  9. 9. CONNECTIONS OF RASPBERRY PI

WRITING THE OS INTO SD CARD  For windows 7 –  Download Win32DiskImager from any of the website and the Linux OS image.  Install win32diskImager and then run it.  Browse for the image of Linux which you have downloaded and write the image to your SD card  Linux is the recommended OS for everyone new to the Raspberry Pi .
  11. 11. THIS IS HOW THE DESKTOP WILL LOOK AFTER PI LOADS LINUX OS.

PROGRAMMING RASPBERRY PI o After writing Linux OS on the SD card, connect it with Pi and power on the Pi. o Thereafter open the shell script and write the code below to install python shell on the system. o sudo apt-get install python-Rpi.GPIO o Now open the python shell to write the code.

  16. 16. SUGGESTIONS FOR ALL Don’t be afraid to play around with such softwares.  At worst you’ll have to reflash your SD card. It is really powerful since even supercomputers can be made out of raspberry pi.
