London What I have seen - 2014

  2. 2. First, you have to face a long line at the Immigration Service, at least if you are not a British or an American citizen.
  3. 3. There are a lot of classical red double buses.
  4. 4. And non-classical double buses too...
  5. 5. Bycicles ...
  6. 6. Taxis and the underground
  7. 7. Classical and non-classical public telephone boxes.
  8. 8. Classical (St. Pancras) and modern (King’s Cross) train stations.
  9. 9. There are flowers everywhere...
  10. 10. Trafalgar Square, NationalGallery at the background and the Nelson Column at the middle.
  11. 11. And there is this curious statue at theTrafalgar Square too...
  12. 12. At the NationalGallery you can see famous masterpieces as these, byVan Gogh and Degas...
  13. 13. But in London you can enjoy modern art as well...
  14. 14. TheWestminsterAbbey, which is almost 1.000 years old, is the most important church in London.
  15. 15. At the LondonTower, you can see the Crown Jewels.
  16. 16. A reconstruction of the original GlobeTheatre built by Shakespeare’s playing company.
  17. 17. There are famous monuments as the Clock Tower at the Parliament (Big Ben is the bell inside this tower)
  18. 18. The Buckingham Palace, the Royal Family place.
  19. 19. The famousTower Bridge crosses the River Thames
  20. 20. We will remember... History is very important for Londoners.
  21. 21. And they learn it from early childhood.
  22. 22. There are modern constructions as “The Shard”, the tallest building in the European Union (306 m).
  23. 23. And “The Gherkin”, also known as “Cucumber”, acquired by Joseph Safra, a Brazilian billionaire, on 2014.
  24. 24. London Eye, a giant bike wheel where you can see the whole city.
  25. 25. The Millenium Bridge, for pedestrians, St. Paul Cathedral at the background.
  26. 26. Sustainability:The clean waters of RiverThames and eolic turbines at the countryside.
  27. 27. There are different dressing styles
  28. 28. People from all over the world visit London. And live there.
  29. 29. You can go shopping at department stores as Harrods...
  30. 30. ... or Selfridge’s...
  31. 31. ...where you can buy from caviar and, Godiva chocolates to clothes and Christmas ornaments.
  32. 32. At CamdenTown and Portobello Road neighborhods you can buy alternative items...
  33. 33. After lunch time, Brits love to relax at the the squares and public gardens.
  34. 34. Busking is very common...
  35. 35. London iconic images: City dragons, Queen’s guards, fish and fries,
  36. 36. See you at London!
