random lines for kids. And we wonder why they
don’t get the shape of 3 correctly!

In Outnumber, every
number is a different
character. Each has a
personality and a story
of their own. Here,
number 2 looks like
a snake, whereas 8
looks like a fat lady,
9 resembles a diva and
fashionista.

Who wins?
The player who collects most pairs.
Who moves first?
Before starting the game, each player will
randomly pick a card. The player who picks the
lowest number card (number, number name, or
counting card) becomes the 1st player.
GAME 1 - MAT MATCH!
6. Take the sets of Number Cards and Number
Name Cards.
Shuffle all the cards and spread them,
facedown, on a flat surface. No card should
overlap the other.
Choose the cards based on the skill you want
your kid to practice. If you want her to practice
counting, select Number Cards and
Counting Cards.
HOW TO PLAY MAT MATCH?
7. Ask player 1 to turn-over any one card and
leave it face-up.
Now, the next player will also turn over one
card.
Next, she will scan all the open cards and try
to pair them with the one she opened.
Let’s say player 1 had turned a Number Name
Card of 5.
8. Now, if the card turned by next player is the
Number Card 5, she can match it to the card
turned by player 1 and keep both the cards
with herself.
As a reward for winning a pair, she gets to
turn another card and match it with other open
cards to make a pair.
The process repeats until she turns a card
which has no matches.
The game ends when all the cards have been
paired.
For more challenge, include the 3rd set and ask
the players to make sets of 3 cards.

Who wins?
The player who collects maximum cards.
Who moves first?
Before starting the game, each player will
randomly pick a card. The player who picks the
lowest number card (number, number name, or
counting card) becomes the 1st player.
GAME 2 – YOUNG WHALE!
10. Take 1 set of cards, shuffle them, and distribute
equally among all the players.
No player will see their cards. The cards they
get will be kept face down at all times.
Player 1 will begin the game by picking the top
card from her stack and putting it in the play
zone for everyone to see.
Now, player 2 will also pick up the top card
from her stack and put it over player 1’s card.
For initial practice, choose just one set of cards.
This should be based on the knowledge level of
your kids and the skill you want
them to practice.
HOW TO PLAY YOUNG WHALE?
11. If the value of player 2’s card is lesser than
that of player 1’s card, she will take all the
cards from the play zone and add it to the
bottom of her stack.
Let’s say player 1 had played card with number
7 on it.
Now, player 2
plays her card
which turns out to
be number 2. In
this case, player 2
will take away all
the cards in the
play zone. Why?
Because, 2 < 7.
12. In case the number played by player 2 was
greater than or equal to 7, then the game
would have continued to the next player playing
her card.
Whenever a player plays the lower number and
wins the cards, she will begin the next round
by playing the top card from her stack.
The game ends when a player runs out of all
her cards. The player with maximum cards is
the winner and is declared as the Young Whale.
For more challenge, play with 2 or more sets. Let
kids compare numbers in various forms.
