twitter is a  platform . it’s  people   talking via the internet.
twitter is people  talking to  people .
twitter is brands   talking to  people .
twitter is people  talking to  brands .
twitter is the  stream of consciousness  of  the web community.
twitter is an  archive . a living, breathing, permanent, indexed & searchable digital  database  of  conversations .
twitter search  allows you to look up a topic, link, discussion, what-have-you…
… and view every mention of that topic, chronologically and live-linked to view the original context or conversation.
twitter is a virtually limitless  archive   of  human communication .

twitter is a social media tool. it’s about the people, and the  conversations .
Q: what should I say?
A: be yourself. people seem to like twitter because  it’s  real .
the question asks, what are you doing? so, start there.
from there,  start  sharing . share  funny  stuff. note: youtube is probably pretty pleased about this aspect
share stuff that’s  relevant ,   stuff you might like to see.
if you’re a creator of  content ,   share that too. start  discussions . the twittersphere is your oyster.
brands are doing the  same  thing. the brands that are thriving on twitter are  keeping it  real .
brands that get it are being  helpful .
also, personable. people are on twitter for  conversation , not to see advertisements.
smart brands are conducting a little  research  on the sly. free focus group, anyone?
being yourself helps to build  friend  communities. which translates pretty nicely into  fan  communities, for brands.
how do I set this thing up? (translation: is it tricky?)
 
just enter your info. barriers to entry = basically zero.
okay, now what?
it’s time to start tweeting! but first, a few items to note…
to speak to* someone, use an @ symbol, and then their twitter name. *note!! This conversation will be PUBLIC
to speak privately, use D, space, and then username.
to pass along something  awesome , use RT for ReTweet. always good to give credit where credit is due.
to start a discussion on a topic, use a  hashtag  (#).   this doesn’t need to include a username, and will make it easier to search for, later.
you’re ready to go!
start by following your  friends . then, read up on their conversations, and follow their friends, too.  follow industry folks, brands, and brand representatives, too. follow anyone  interesting .
if the following gets too  intense , check out some applications.  apps sort out conversations and followers per your specifications.
tweetdeck is my personal favorite.
twitter is a  platform  for conversation. an  archive  of communication. it’s digital communication gone  mainstream .
twitter helps to gather  friends  and  find people  with similar interests for conversation. for people, and for brands, too.

  • 12. twitter is brands talking to people .

  • 15. twitter is an archive . a living, breathing, permanent, indexed & searchable digital database of conversations .
  • 16. twitter search allows you to look up a topic, link, discussion, what-have-you…
  • 17. … and view every mention of that topic, chronologically and live-linked to view the original context or conversation.
  • 18. twitter is a virtually limitless archive of human communication .

  • 22. twitter is a social media tool. it’s about the people, and the conversations .
  • 23. Q: what should I say?
  • 24. A: be yourself. people seem to like twitter because it’s real .
  • 25. the question asks, what are you doing? so, start there.
  • 26. from there, start sharing . share funny stuff. note: youtube is probably pretty pleased about this aspect
  • 27. share stuff that’s relevant , stuff you might like to see.
  • 28. if you’re a creator of content , share that too. start discussions . the twittersphere is your oyster.
  • 29. brands are doing the same thing. the brands that are thriving on twitter are keeping it real .
  • 30. brands that get it are being helpful .
  • 31. also, personable. people are on twitter for conversation , not to see advertisements.
  • 32. smart brands are conducting a little research on the sly. free focus group, anyone?
  • 33. being yourself helps to build friend communities. which translates pretty nicely into fan communities, for brands.
  • 34. how do I set this thing up? (translation: is it tricky?)

  • 36. just enter your info. barriers to entry = basically zero.
  • 38. it’s time to start tweeting! but first, a few items to note…
  • 39. to speak to* someone, use an @ symbol, and then their twitter name. *note!! This conversation will be PUBLIC
  • 40. to speak privately, use D, space, and then username.
  • 41. to pass along something awesome , use RT for ReTweet. always good to give credit where credit is due.
  • 42. to start a discussion on a topic, use a hashtag (#). this doesn’t need to include a username, and will make it easier to search for, later.
  • 44. start by following your friends . then, read up on their conversations, and follow their friends, too. follow industry folks, brands, and brand representatives, too. follow anyone interesting .
  • 45. if the following gets too intense , check out some applications. apps sort out conversations and followers per your specifications.
  • 46. tweetdeck is my personal favorite.
  • 47. twitter is a platform for conversation. an archive of communication. it’s digital communication gone mainstream .
  • 48. twitter helps to gather friends and find people with similar interests for conversation. for people, and for brands, too.
