Ladies and Gentlemen!
On behalf of the Indonesian Government and the Indonesian Embassy, I would like to welcome all of you to “Discover Indonesia”. It is a
festival of Indonesia’s culinary delights, unique cultural exhibitions and art-and-craft-making presentations.
Today in this bright sunny day let me convey the three momentous objectives of this great cultural event, namely introducing Indonesia’s
rich cultural diversity, improving understanding socio-cultural aspects between two countries, and enhancing economic and trade
cooperation between the United States and Indonesia.
Concerning cultural aspect, as we all may already know, if we talk Indonesia, foreigners often referring Bali and not much aware of
Indonesia as a whole country.
Bali has long been dubbed as the “Island of the Gods” which has very rich and exotic arts and culture.
However, other than Bali, Indonesia has a diverse culture across provinces in the five main islands ranging from Sabang in Sumatera to
Merauke in Papua. It offers no less interesting arts and culture than Bali.
This event also display cultural and art related products.
In this respect, I would like to encourage business and trade cooperation between Indonesia and the United States. I do believe that
Indonesia and the United States can gain benefit mutually.
I hope all of you are having a good time. So, discover Indonesia, and enjoy.
I thank you!
