• Rewarded the “Pulitzer Prize Special Citation”
• Mostly Played Tenor sax but also played Soprano Sax.
• Played in the Bebop & Hard Bop Era of Jazz.
• Some of his Albums are considered the Best in history.

6. St. John Will-I-Am Coltrane
• After Coltrane’s Death, congregants at the
Yardbird Temple in San Francisco began
worshiping Coltrane. Then they made St. John
Will-I-Am Coltrane African Orthodox Church in
San Francisco.
7. His Death
• He died July 17,1967 at the age of 40.
• He died from liver cancer but there is a
controversy that suggests that he died of
hepatitis due to his heroin use.
• His Wife had not released recordings in her
possession, it was said that she was going to
released them but she passed away in 2007.
• Now Coltrane’s Son Ravi who is pursuing his
own career in in charge of those tapes.
