2.  Drinking and Driving is a relevant issue in our society.
-This year, 10,839 people will die in drunk-driving crashes. That is

-One in three people will be involved in an alcohol-related crash

-Every minute, one person is injured from an alcohol-related

- An average drunk driver has driven drunk 80 times before first

- US adults drank too much and got behind the wheel about 112

-Drunk driving costs each adult in this country almost $500 per

3.  By spreading awareness about the dangers of drinking and
driving, the number of fatalities and accidents can be
lowered drastically.
-Since 1980 MADD has nearly saved 300,000 lives ...and counting.

-Episodes of drinking and driving have gone down by 30% during

-MADD has saved 27,000 young lives through passage of

4. 1. The student body at the University of
North Florida. Right now UNF has more
than 16,000 students.
2. The faculty and staff at the University of
North Florida. There are over 500 full-
time employees.
3. The local Jacksonville community.

5.  To spread public awareness about the
severe dangers and affects of drinking
and driving in hopes to decrease the
number of people that drink and drive.
 To inspire the UNF and local community
that each individual has the power to
truly make a difference in preventing
drinking and driving.

6. Overall awareness and prevention of drinking and driving.
1. Communicate with our community about the dangers of
drinking and driving
2. Inform people that there are ways around drinking and
driving.
3. To show that one person truly can make a difference in the
fight against drinking and driving.

7.  The founding of a new UNF club, SADD,
Students Against Drunk Driving
› Communicate to the UNF community to
develop an understanding of the dangers of
drinking and driving.
› Hosting monthly club meetings allowing
members to bring family and friends to
spread the awareness even further.

8.  “ Save-a-Life” Call System through SADD
› This is a program for students to volunteer to help
other UNF students who have had too much to drink
and can not drive themselves home.
› Students who would like to volunteer will assemble on
Friday and Saturday nights in the Student Union
between 9pm and 5am.
› Volunteers will receive calls from fellow students that
are in need of a safe ride. A volunteer will go and
pick them up and take them home for free.
› Starting this group will allow UNF students to know
that there are other options than driving drunk or with
someone who is drunk.
› This program will also allow students to see that their
fellow peers do not tolerate drunk driving and that it
is a very serious problem.

9.  Events on campus open to UNF students, faculty, staff
and outside community.
› Spreading awareness and addressing that drinking and
driving under the influence of alcohol is key when trying to
reduce the number of people who commit this act.
› It is important to promote the events and make them
appealing for people to come to. There could be food,
guest musicians, games, and so forth.
› Having guest speakers who have committed the crime of
drinking and driving and have actually killed or injured
someone from drinking and driving would hit home to a lot
of students.
› Also, having families of victims that have died from
drinking and driving fatalities come to share their heart
breaking stories would help people to see and understand
the problem and possible results that can occur from
drinking and driving.

10.  December – National Drunk and Drugged
Driving Prevention Month.
› The red ribbon symbolizes National Drunk and
Drugged Driving Prevention. During the month of
December, handing out red ribbons to the
campus and community to wear and show their
support of the prevention of drunk and drugged
driving.
› Posting facts for everyday in December onto a
Facebook fan page for anti drinking and driving.
› Chalking the campus with statistics about
drinking and driving.

11.  Through our specific tactics we hope that
people will be informed about just how
dangerous drinking and driving is.
 The problem may seem so huge, but in
reality, one person can make a huge
difference.
 Drinking and driving is a choice that people
make, it can easily be avoided.
 You can hand over your keys or your life.
Make the right choice. DON’T DRINK AND
DRIVE.
