2. Front cover: ‘Billboard’
I want the front page of my music magazine to look like
the one on the right (Billboard). Reasons being are that
the front page is not overly cluttered which makes it more
appealing to the eyes. having an uncluttered front page is
also important because it can overpower the main story.
The front cover has only one main image however, still
attracts the target audience by the colour of the back
ground (pink) and the celebrities clothing.
The magazine manages to look mature but girly at the
same time by not adding too many bright colours on the
front page which can make some pop magazines look
tacky.
I will be conforming to the camera shot(half full shot) used
on this magazines front cover as it allows the reader to
see more of the celebrities outfit. Also, it makes the main
story look more important than the sell lines. However, I
am subverting to the fact that there are not more images
on the front cover as I feel these do attract the audience
and shows them without opening the magazine, what
other stories/images are inside.

3. Contents page: ‘Billboard’
The contents page of Billboard
magazine has a unique layout. on the
left hand side of the image, there is a
column titled ‘No.1 on the charts’. I like
the idea of this as it is a music
magazine, readers are able to view the
top albums and songs of their favourite
genre. This will attract the target
audience because they know each time
they purchase the magazine, they will
be able to see new music.
I will be conforming to that layout of this
contents page as i feel it is unique
because of the ‘No.1 on the charts’
column and there is a lot of information
on the page but it still manages to look
neat and uncluttered.

4. Front cover: ‘We love pop’
I want the front page of my music magazine to
look similar to we love pops, however, less
cluttered. I will be conforming to the features that
we love have used (Poster special, bottom of
magazine) because I feel the younger target
audience of magazine will be looking out for these
give-aways as it makes them feel more closer to
the celebrity. Also, I like the fonts used on the
page as they vary depending on the story making
the page look more interesting. Also I will be
including language texts features such as
persuasive text and hyperbole. The persuasive
language used on the cover of we love pop is
‘You need this mag’. The personal pronoun ‘you’
makes it direct to the reader and makes them feel
like there is mysterious content inside.
However, I will be subverting to the adverts being
so large on the page as it distracts from the main
story. I will want my target audience to be
interested in the main story first before another
part of the magazine because they are suppose
to automatically want to read about the large
image.

5. Contents page: ‘We love pop’
I like the layout of ‘We love pop’s’
contents page as I feel they have
managed to put a lot of information on
it without the page looking too
cluttered. The main heading is large
and bold for the reader to see, there
are a variety of images, coloured
subheadings and font types which all
make the page look appealing.
I will be conforming to the font types
used on the contents page because
they look funky ,however, subverting
to having advert images on it as I feel
it will not be needed. I will have a
clear notification on my contents page
of where all fashion/make-up news will
be on.
