Trout Pond Project

•  Group Project

•  We were assigned with the challenge of
constructing a house and studio for a middle-
aged married couple. Their private residence had
to be kept separate from their at-home
businesses.

•  Group Tasks:

–  To build with sustainability and green design in
mind.

–  To create a mid-century modern feel.

–  To provide appropriate workspaces for the
clients needs.

–  To fashion the house in such a way that is
appropriate for the Canadian climates.

NKBA Kitchen Challenge

For this project, I had the challenge of designing

a kitchen for Enchanted Makeovers, a foundation

who’s goal is to transform homeless shelters for

women and children into places that inspire

psychological and behavioral changes. There will

be three women and their children living in this

home at any given time.

NKBA Kitchen Solution
I created a kitchen that three mothers can

easily move through without running into

each other. It includes two dishwashers,

two ovens and a breakfast bar area. There

is also a large chalkboard paint wall for the

children to explore their imaginations

through drawing.

Project

I was challenged with a retail

project where I had to build a

model. The store was inside a

shopping mall and I picked a

corner store, so you could see

into the space easier. For this

project I decided to create a

record/vintage guitar shop.

Restaurant Project

35

The final project we were
challenged

with was the Restaurant project.
The

floor plan we were given is the
floor plan of an actual restaurant
over-looking the harbor in
Vancouver. I chose to stick with
a Canadian themed restaurant
and titled the project ME.
