Surgery offers the best chance for either cure or control of disease in cancers of the breast. Modified radical mastectomy still remains the procedure of choice for operable cancers.Breast conserving surgery sounds more attractive to the patient but is a death trap. The recurrence rate with this conserving surgery is extremely high. By the time a recurrence is detected the disease has already spread far and wide rendering it inoperable.
