square foot flag over the plaza. In January 2013, we had an American flag raising
ceremony and were excited to be joined by the hundred people who came out to
participate. In June 2013, the dealership was recognized for its patriotism by the Fort
Harrison Chapter of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR).
This recognition from the SAR was truly an honor for Joe Bowman Auto because we
have been working hard to let our brave soldiers, past and present, know how grateful we
are for them and how much we love them.
Joe Bowman Auto supports the Wounded Warrior Project and we are truly thankful for
and amazed by what the project has accomplished since its founding. We are glad to be a
part of the Virginia Wounded Warrior Project to show local soldiers, veterans, and their
families that they are in our hearts. Joe Bowman Auto recognizes the important role that
the Wounded Warrior Project plays in America. Our dealership feels that our soldiers
deserve the services offered by the Wounded Warrior Project to help them try to live a
normal life after the war has taken so much from them and their families.
The Wounded Warrior Project was started when the first group of wounded soldiers
returned from Afghanistan and Iraq. At first, the project provided comforting items to
soldiers but has since evolved into a full rehabilitation service to help soldiers transition
back into ordinary civilian life. Wounded Warrior’s five core values utilized daily to help
soldiers adjust are: fun, integrity, loyalty, innovation, and service. The Wounded Warrior
Project has many programs that are tailored to meet the needs of injured soldiers and their
families. Programs are made for nurturing the body and the mind, to help soldiers provide
financial stability in the long term, and to connect wounded soldiers with others wounded
through peer mentoring and the alumni. The Alumni program offers support for the long-
term ensuring that soldiers who need help never feel abandoned. The Wounded Warrior
Project is vital to America and to the lives of her people. Hopefully, the Wounded
Warrior Project will continue to grow and thrive for many years to come.
