2. THESIS
* Larry Smith’s thesis of his presentation is explaining the vast
amount of excuses a person comes up with of why they don’t
have a career they are passionate about. Why they don’t have a
great career.
3. ALL EARS....
* Larry captures the audience with blatant honesty and humor
with stories and examples that are relevant with the topic at
hand.
4. ALL EARS....
* Smith also uses his unique voice and high energy to
dynamically draw in his listeners.
6. TED COMMANDMENTS
* He remains consistent with his high energy while keeping the
audience engaged with laughter.
7. DYNAMISM
* On a scale from 1 to 5 I give Mr. Smith a 4. Ways he could
have been better include less stuttering and more examples to
help build reinforcement for his topic. Although he did an
excellent job keeping the crowd involved.
8. * Larry uses tips revealed by Nancy Duarte. He incorporates
the use of stories to draw in his listeners and offer a since of
commonality to better relay his message.
9. * By engaging in short stories he was able to convey, in a
humorous way, very important life lessons that people could
hang on to just from laughing.
10. WHAT I’VE LEARNED
* I have learned that it is extremely important to keep the
audience attentive and engaged.
11. WHAT I’VE LEARNED
* The best way to keep listeners responsive is to give them
everyday life scenarios and stories to help them personalize
with the message I am trying to convey.
12. ROBINSON VS. SMITH
* Robinson’s delivery is more timed and he is more consistent
with arousing emotion from the audience. He gives us a more
concrete explanation on his topics.
13. ROBINSON VS. SMITH
* Both Smith and Robinson use laughter as a means to educate
their listeners. After each humorous line came a valid point that
people were able to hold on too because of an opening caused
by that emotion.
14. FRIENDLY REMINDER...
* Tips on delivery that I noticed from my TED presenter is to be
entertaining. Don’t let the information sound like information.
15. FRIENDLY REMINDER...
* Tell a joke or some sort of story that ties into the subject or
point you are trying to make. Another thing that I saw was that
he was real. Genuine and passionate about his information. He
seemed as if he cared about what he was doing.
