Two Greek teachers, Evgeniou Anastasia and Kozanita Konstantina, presented information about themselves, their city of Athens, their jobs as teachers, and their school. They discussed being born and living in Athens and studying subjects related to ancient Greek literature. They described some of the historical sites in Athens from the classical era and challenges the city now faces. The teachers explained that they work at a private high school where they have started using Internet and multimedia tools in their lessons over the last 4 years. They presented on their school, which was established in 1949, and how technology is utilized there through interactive whiteboards, PowerPoint presentations, software, and online videos and games. However, they noted one disadvantage is

2. 1ST PART: I PRESENT MYSELF…

3.  My name is Evgeniou Anastasia and i come from Greece.
 I was born in Athens in 1973.
 I studied Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology.
 I live in Athens and I work as a teacher of ancient and
modern Greek literature, latin language and philosophy in
a private High School.

 I was born in Athens in 1978.
 I studied Classical Philology.

5. 2ND PART: I PRESENT MY CITY…

6. Athens is the capital of Greece.

7. The Athens of the classical
age was the birthplace of
democracy,
philosophy,
theatre,
rhetorics,
architecture
and sculpture.

8. Some of the sites someone can visit are…

9. The temple of the Parthenon in the
Acropolis

10. The Herodes Atticus’ Odeon

11. The temple of Poseidon in Sounio

12. And, of course, the New Museum of the
Acropolis

13. Nowadays, Athens faces many problems, like pollution,
increasing crime rates and unemployment, as a result of
the recent financial crisis, which both the government
and the citizens are working on overcoming.

14. 3RD PART: I PRESENT MY JOB…

15.  We work as teachers of ancient and modern Greek
literature, history and latin language in a private High
School in a western suburb of Athens.
 We enjoy our job very much, we love children and
we try to educate ourselves as much as we can,
concerning all the latest developments in the fields of
pedagogics.

16.  In the last 4 years we have been using Internet and
multimedia tools in our school.
 We decided to attend this course, because we want to
learn more about the use of technology in teaching.

17. 4TH PART: I PRESENT MY SCHOOL…

18. Our school is called Avgoulea-Linardatou
Schools.

19.  The school has been operating since 1949 and has
pre-school, primary school and both junior and senior
High school.
 Technology in our school is used in the following
ways:

20. through the use of interactive boards
in every classroom

21. with the preparation of power point
presentation to support the lesson

22.  by using software to enhance the lesson
 through digital games, either found on the Internet or
constructed by the teachers themselves (video)
 researching on the Internet for videos, web pages and
other appropriate material

23. one serious disadvantage…
 Unfortunately, although most of our students have a
netbook computer, they cannot be used in the classroom
due to our schools’ lack of a in-class network.
