Association Environment People Actions Couleurs de Chine’s major goal is  to  help Chinese Ethnic Minorities children  (mainly girls)  to go to school o English Translation : « Colors of China » o Charity Association and non-profit organisation  o F ounded by a French woman :  Mrs Françoise Grenot-Wang, named   “ Fang Fang  ” Couleurs de Chine - 2010
« Fang Fang »  (1949 – 2008) :   o   1990  = She started  « Couleurs de Chine » as a cultural Association to introduce the culture of Chinese minorities (Miao, Yao and Dong) to the French public.  o   1998 =  She worked as an interpreter for « Doctors without Borders » in the Guangxi province.  And going from village to village, she was shocked to find  no girls at all  in any of the schools.  Association Environment People Actions Couleurs de Chine - 2010
o  From  1998  = She decided to stay and live in this remote area and change the  main goal of the Association by  sponsoring education for ethnic girls .  Association Environment People Actions She was passionate and fiercely proud of their culture, their strength and their history and dedicated her life to them . Couleurs de Chine - 2010
Guangxi and Guizhou  Provinces  Mountainous region in the south east of China :  « The Great Miao Mountains » Association Environment People Actions Couleurs de Chine - 2010 Beijing Shanghai Guangzhou
o  People live in wooden houses o  Houses are not equipped with electricity Couleurs de Chine  supports the maintenance, restoration and reconstruction of community structures  in the villages, such as the “ Drum Tower ” of the Dong. Sister’s Rice Festival  ( The oldest Asian Valentine’s Day) Lusheng Players  ( Reed Flute : the official symbol of Miao Culture) Couleurs de Chine encourages the local population to  preserve their traditional costume, music and dance. Association Actions Environment People Couleurs de Chine - 2010
o  Local families have very low income  (average annual income is around 500 rmb) o  The economy is based on  terraced rice cultivation and the planting of fir trees .  They raise pigs, sheep and chickens. o   The  young girls are expected to help around the houses Association Actions Environment People Couleurs de Chine - 2010
Many young girls from these Ethnic Minorities do not get the chance to go to school. When it is possible for some families to let a child to go to school,  the priority is given to boys . Association Environment People Actions Couleurs de Chine - 2010
o Our major action is to  help  girls  and children  to have access to  primary school  (6 years) and  middle school  (3 years).  o The brightest one are supported to go to  high school  and some have reached  university  level. To date, almost  5,500 children  sponsored   Girl’s education Association Environment People Actions Couleurs de Chine - 2010
PRIMARY School (  3 years ) =  1,800 Rmb PRIMARY School (1 year) =  600 Rmb MIDDLE School (1 year) =  1,200 Rmb HIGH School (1 year) =  5,000 Rmb UNIVERSITY (1 year) =  6,000 Rmb  Our Sponsorship Commitment Association People Environment Actions By sponsoring, you will receive the picture of the child you sponsored and we will send you,once a year, her/his individual school report Couleurs de Chine - 2010
Couleurs de Chine  contributes to  :  the construction and refurbishment of schools,  dormitories and playgrounds and  provides  school materials Construction and equipping of schools Association People Environment Actions Couleurs de Chine - 2010

On the spot :  Mrs Marine Vitré lives in Danian Township. She carries out a survey of the needs and informs the Head Office, in Paris. A network of volunteers  in France, China, Switzerland, Belgium organise numerous activities to raise funds. Association Environment People Actions Couleurs de Chine’s major goal is to help Chinese Ethnic Minorities children (mainly girls) to go to school o English Translation : « Colors of China » o Charity Association and non-profit organisation o F ounded by a French woman : Mrs Françoise Grenot-Wang, named “ Fang Fang ” Couleurs de Chine - 2010
  • 3. « Fang Fang » (1949 – 2008) : o 1990 = She started « Couleurs de Chine » as a cultural Association to introduce the culture of Chinese minorities (Miao, Yao and Dong) to the French public. o 1998 = She worked as an interpreter for « Doctors without Borders » in the Guangxi province.   • 4. o From 1998 = She decided to stay and live in this remote area and change the main goal of the Association by sponsoring education for ethnic girls . Sister’s Rice Festival ( The oldest Asian Valentine’s Day) Lusheng Players ( Reed Flute : the official symbol of Miao Culture) Couleurs de Chine encourages the local population to preserve their traditional costume, music and dance.   • 9. o Local families have very low income (average annual income is around 500 rmb) o The economy is based on terraced rice cultivation and the planting of fir trees .   • 10. Many young girls from these Ethnic Minorities do not get the chance to go to school. When it is possible for some families to let a child to go to school, the priority is given to boys . Association Environment People Actions Couleurs de Chine - 2010
  • 11. o Our major action is to help girls and children to have access to primary school (6 years) and middle school (3 years). o The brightest one are supported to go to high school and some have reached university level.   • 15. On the spot : Mrs Marine Vitré lives in Danian Township. She carries out a survey of the needs and informs the Head Office, in Paris. A network of volunteers in France, China, Switzerland, Belgium organise numerous activities to raise funds.
