1. Two Fire Alarm Operators (FAO)
2. One Mechanic Uniformed Fire Division (UFD)

Justification:
1. The Insurance Service Organization (ISO) mandates that there are 2 FAO's on duty at
all times. Presently we have seven (7) FAO's supporting four separate and distinct shifts
of firefighters. We are immediately in need of one FAO and one FAO is on disability and
it is unlikely that he will be returning to duty and therefore we are requesting another which
will bring us to a total of eight (8); 2 for each shift. The State Fiscal Monitor (Mrs. Tripodi)
has already agreed to fill the vacancy in this job classification.
2. In discussion with the State Fiscal Monitor she has granted permission
to appoint provisionally Rafael Roman to the above mentioned position. She has also
granted permission to request an examination for the position of Mechanic UFD. The
salary will mirror the steps and the dollar amount of a Fire Captain.
3. In order to be in compliance with the SAFER Guidance Documents, it is necessary to
replace one firefighter as one has retired.
