Edwin Perkins invented Kool-Aid in 1927 after experimenting with different fruit drink mixes and flavors. He first marketed the product as Fruit Smack but later changed the name to Kool-Aid and created the iconic "Pitcher Man" mascot. Perkins refined the recipe through trial and error before making Kool-Aid a popular drink that could be easily mixed at home.
