Olympic Games (1996, 2000, 2004). in 2005 and in 2006, she
won the prestigious New York Marathon, becoming only the
sixth woman who done it more than once. In the 2006 European

success of the richest hockey player NHL, Latvia played 6
different teams. in 1996 with the Colorado Avalanche as the first
and only Latvian hockey player won the Stanley Cup, the NHL
career, 7 times participated in all-star games. Playing in the NHL
was the best paid athletes of Latvia. Played in the USSR and CIS
junior team. From 1998 to 2006 was one of the leaders of Latvian
National ice hockey team which participated in two Winter
Olympics. Currently (2011) represents the KHL Club Dinamo
Riga, which fulfil the obligations of the master

the USSR championship (1987-1991). A former Latvian
professional ice hockey goaltender, most of his playing career in
the NHL, the League clubs playing from 1991 until 2004. at the
end of 2009, admitted to the IIHF Hall of Fame. in 1988
Dinamo Riga became the Vice-Champion of the USSR and was
recognized as the best rookie in the League. After the 1991

7. Wwas a Latvian professional ice hockey player. Skrastins was a
member of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the Kontinental Hockey
League (KHL) and was on board the team plane which crashed
on September 7, 2011.[1] Skrastins played eleven seasons in the
National Hockey League (NHL) before joining Lokomotiv in
2011.

10. A former Latvian Javelin thrower, who throughout his career in
athletics (1957-1976) represented the USSR. at the 1964 Olympic
games he won a bronze medal, but after 4 years in Mexico he
became an Olympic champion. the 1972 Olympics in Munich he
won the silver medal. Is currently the only Latvian who has
managed to win all three Olympic medals wrought iron. Won 4,
12 and the European USSR 1 Latvian Champion title. in 1987,
the IAAF considered him the all-time greatest Javelin thrower in
the world

Former Latvian biathlete, who scored a major international
success. Won two bronze medals at the World
Championships. Biathlon practiced since 1978, after the
independence of Latvia was represented by the Latvian
team. summer 2011 announced the athlete's career ended
and turned to the coach's job, but individual competitions
continued to represent the Latvian team the next season.
12. Is a former professional road bicycle racer from Latvia. He won
the road race at the 2000 world cycling championship in
Plouay, France. He covered the 269 km in 6h 15m 28s, the best
of 158 starters.

Standing at 2.10 m (6 ft 11 in)[2] Semjonova was the leading
women's basketball player in the world in the 1970s and 1980s.
Wearing a men's size 21 (US) / 58 (EU) shoe, she was known
for having the largest feet ever in women's basketball.[3][4] For
almost all of her playing career, she played for TTT Riga,
which was part of Daugava Voluntary Sports Society. With
TTT, she won 15 championships in the Soviet Union and the
European Champion's Cup 15 times.
