3. Research
• I think I really found some really interesting existing products that I researched
because most of them helped with my final product. A strength of my research
is that a few of them really inspired the final production of my work because I
liked some of the ideas that I found and used parts of them in my work. A
weakness of my research is that I didn’t ask detailed enough questions in my
survey and when I came to look the answers were very short and didn’t give
me much information, where as if I expanded my questions more I could have
had more in depth answers which would overall help my production. Another
strength of my research is that in my experiments I got to play around with
different tools that I haven’t used before and this helped because I used them
in my final product, overall I think my experiments helped as it gave me the
opportunity to learn new skills that I used in my final product. Another
weakness is that I used a lot of tools that I already knew and I made something
in recent projects, although I did learn some new skills I did not step out side
of my comfort zone with my experiments. To improve my research I could of
added more details in my surveys which would improved my final product.
This would of allowed me to gain more knowledge about my target audience.
4. Planning
• A strength of my planning is that I got to plan exactly what I wanted to
make and why I was going to make before actually having a visual of what
it would look like. Before I started the planning I had a good idea of what I
wanted to do but not actually what it would look like. This helped my final
product because I wasn’t sure why I was creating the product but as I
planned it I realised that it would be important to me and also for other
people to view. A weakness of my planning was that I did have a lot of
recourses that I used and I believe if I used more my product could have
been much better, especially the animation. Another strength of my
planning is that I got to create a visual representation of what I wanted
some of my designs to look like and also all sorts of different colour
schemes that I could use. This really helped my product because I found
the perfect colour scheme that I actually ended up using in my final
product. To improve my planning I definitely could of added more
resources because if I used more software's then I could of made
everything looks like it fits together.
5. Time Management
• I personally think I managed my time well as everything has come
together to meet the deadline day. I didn’t do every PowerPoint in order
but I still have managed to complete every other document up until this
evaluation. If I had more time for the production I believe I could of made
my video much better with all sorts of different effects and make the
video stand out from all of the existing products. Also if I had more time I
would of made the animation a lot more smoother compared to the plane
having little jumps where it moves from pixel to pixel. Also if I had more
time I would of created a website that has all sorts of different information
about where people can get cheap holidays or even everything they need
to know about a working holiday visa to Australia. I would of designed the
whole website and created the graphics exactly how I would like them and
so it stands out to my target audience.
6. Technical Qualities
My product is this existing product that I have chose have many similarities and we also have many differences in both of
our products. An example of a similarity is that we have both kept it very simple by using minimal colours but also made it
look very effective on the viewers. This is very effective because you don’t want to look at a poster that has too many
colours and then it is very confusing to see exactly what is going on in the poster and what the main goal of the poster is.
Something that is different between my product and the existing product is that the existing product has dates on for the
people that look at the poster can attend the “camp fair” that they are promoting. My product doesn’t have and dates for
something that they can attend but this doesn’t matter for my project because it will lead them to a website where they
can get all of the information they need. Another aspect that is similar I our products is that we both include important
information such as the name of the brand, the location at where they can find each other. For the existing product is it the
actual location of the fair and on mine is the location of the website address. Another aspect that is different is that I have
my own branded logo and the existing product doesn’t. This can be bad for the fair because if people see my logo in
different places they may recognize it and remember the logo brand and come back to the brand.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
Personally I think my work looks good because I kept it simple
and I didn’t go too over the top. This will be great for the
viewers because it is a very basic poster that promotes the
company and tells them every where they can find them. Also
people wont be looking at the poster for too long because it
doesn’t have massive paragraphs on. I did this because when
you see a poster you don’t want to be reading it for ages, you
should just get the information you need and then visit the
important information that is on the poster. I think that my
poster is creative because it has a different design to any other
poster that I have seen. The plane represents that it travels
round the world and also the logo for the company is big and in
a good place so it is easy for everyone to see. The aspects of my
poster's visuals that I like is the colour scheme. I haven't used
too many colours and kept them all very simple. I made sure
that I used the same shade of the same colour on different
points of the poster to make it appealing to the eye. If I were to
improve anything on this poster it would of definitely been the
logo. I think it is a nice logo but I definitely could of made it
much better if I spent more time on it. A strength of my poster is
the way everything is set out because everything is straight
forward and people can find what they are looking for very
easily. A weakness of my work is definitely the logo, I like how it
is designed but then It also doesn’t have anything to do with
travelling or anything like that. Another strength of my work is
that I have used nice, bright colours that you would sort of see
when you are abroad near the sea. This would get more people
interested in the poster because it brings back all of the
memories from their last holiday.
8. Audience Appeal
Both of my products have appealed to my target audience
because I have kept them both very simple for the audience
to both look at and also enjoy the video. My age range is
really anywhere between 18 and 35 because this is the age
that offers the working holiday visa but then my secondary
audience are the people who I just offer a holiday to so that
can be any age range from 16+. I think my video would
definitely appeal to my target audience because anyone can
enjoy a video as long as they are interested in the certain
topic. My video promotes travelling so people who watch that
will be looking to either go on a holiday or even to go for a
long period of time to a different country. I can also see this
statistic from my questionnaire as I asked how many people
would be interested in going to a different country for a
longer period of time and most of the people that answered
were interested in doing this. Another way my product
appeals to my target audience is that I asked them what they
prefer in a video and most of them said that they prefer the
shots that are inside of the video. This is good because my
video is mainly about the shots and not about loads of fancy
edits.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like that you have kept the same sort of colours all
the way throughout the poster. I like this because it
doesn’t make me want to look away from the product
because there is too many colours. Also I like that you
have kept it clean and simple.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– To improve this product you could add more of a
description as to what the poster is actually
advertising. As I cant quite tell what it is but maybe if I
follow the link I will.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the bright colour scheme and the colours are
really warm and positive.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– To improve this product I would make it a lot
clearer as to what it is that is being advertised. Is it
a plane? Is it a hotel website? There is no clear
description.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like that in the video you have had a wide range
of shots that really makes the viewer think that
they are there and it also really make you want to
go on holiday and view these shots for yourself.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– To improve your product you could of added more
transitions to the video to give it that extra effect
on the audience.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– From my peer feedback I agree that I should of added a lot more
transitions to my video because it would of made it a lot more
interesting. Also if I did add more I would make sure I don’t add
too many transitions to over do it and then people not enjoy it
as what it is.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– From my peer feed back I disagree that I should add more
information onto the poster. I didn’t want to do this because it
would make the poster way too overcrowded and people
wouldn’t be able to read all of it if they only get a quick glimpse
of it. My poster says “Travel the world” on it, from this you can
tell that it is something to do with travelling and if they were
really interested they would follow the social links provided.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
Based upon my per feedback I would definitely improve some parts of my product
such as the promotional video that I made. I would go back over the video to see
exactly where I think needs a transition and also where I think it will look good. I
would do this because I was also thinking of adding different transitions in but then in
the end I didn’t because I didn’t think my video needed them. After peoples reviews I
think it will be a good idea to add them. Also something else that I would change is a
little bit of information on exactly what the poster is promoting. I know I said that it
doesn’t really need it but I think if I find a place to put this in then it will work well
with my product. I wouldn’t make this a big thing but I would definitely summarize
what I am promoting so people don’t have to spend a long time reading it. Other than
that, based on my peer feedback I wouldn’t change anything else.
