•   Advanced features – code can be downloaded and modified
What is in Moodle for us?
• Creation of course year-wise and branch-wise
    – FE, SE (Comp), TE (E&TC), BE (Mech), etc
• Upload of teaching material
    – Word, Excel PPTs, PDFs, Images, Videos
• Initiate a topic for discussion
    – Forum, Blog, Chat, etc
• Contribution from student
    – Student can upload and share study material
• Conduction of on-line examination
    – MCQs, True-False, Match-Pairs, Short-answer, Text
• Review of results of on-line examination
    – Detailed review and analysis of results
Prerequisite
• Install Moodle at any one of PC (as server). This PC should
  have at STATIC IP address.
• Ensure that latest version of any web browser and Java
  runtime environment is installed on all computers
• Start Moodle Server (Apache)
• Ensure that LAN is working
• One faculty member will work as Administrator
• Administrator will create accounts for Faculty members and
  Students

Login to Moodle

• Ensure that your PC is
  installed with latest
  web browser and JAVA
  runtime environment
• Open web browser and
  type the IP address of
  Moodle server
• On the front page
  option of login
• Done !!
Addition Files or Folders to Subjects (Labels)
• In a course different Topic Label will work as name of subject
• Adding Resource
   – A file or folder can be uploaded directly under the label
Addition of Activities to Subject
Addition of Activities: Assignments
• Options for Assignments
   –   Student can see assignment online and can submit manually or online
   –   Duration of dates can be set (e.g. a week)
   –   Grading system can be set
   –    After gradation (by teacher), if not satisfactory, student can resubmit
       the assignment
Addition of Activities: Chat
• Options for Chat
    – A teacher can initiate a
      chat or discussion with
      students
    – All the students enrolled
      to the course can
      participate in the chat
      and can reply to it
    – All students can have a
      chat with each other or
      with teacher
    – Useful in case we can
      post a question and ask
      students to give reply
      over it (interactive chat)
Addition of Activities: Database
• This is the area where
  students can add and share
  resources
• Any student can upload
  image, text, file, web page
  link, etc
• Helpful if we ask students to
  gather a material over a
  certain topic
• This will encourage students
  to search the contents and
  share their own material
Addition of Activities: Forum
• A forum is open space where students can share their views
  about certain topics
• Choices for forum
   –   Single question
   –   one post each person
   –   question and answer
   –   blog type
Addition of Activities: Lesson
• The lesson module enables the
  teacher to create an adaptive
  learning experience consisting of a
  series of pages containing
  questions
• Focus: Import Questions
    – MCQs, True/False, match pairs, etc
    – Aim is different than regular MCQs
    – To test the understanding (not exam)
    – Correct option and feedback to each
      question can be provided
    – Format GIFT (an Excel file is available
      on Moodle website to convert Excel
      directly to GIFT format)
Addition of Activities: Workshop
• Workshop enables students to evaluate their own work or the
  work of each other and can grade each other’s work
• Useful only for students “serious” about studies
Addition of Activities: Quiz
•   The quiz module enables the teacher to design and set quizzes consisting of
    multiple choice, true-false, matching, short answer, etc
•   Each attempt is automatically marked, and the teacher can choose whether to give
    feedback and/or show correct answers
•   Quiz can be set over a Topic / Unit / Chapter
•   The responses can be evaluated in the form of summary
•   Teacher can collect the data of Quiz (as database), even can download the
    summary in the form of excel sheet
•   This option can also be used for collecting feedback by students online
•   Options for review by students
Exploring Quiz Option
•   Name of Quiz – Topic / Unit (Feedback
    Name of Teacher)
•   Attempts Setting – 1 to 10 or Unlimited
    times
•   Grading Method – Highest, Average, First
    or Last
     –   (response of specific grading will be
         counted in the evaluation)
•   Order of Questions – Sequential /
    random / shuffle
•   Order of Choices – Shuffle or sequential
