5. THE CLIMATE Ile-de-France is located in the northern part of France which is renowned for mild and temperate weather all year long. Contrarily to what is commonly thought, this region is allegedly really rainy. Average Rainfall: Summer: 52.4mm and Winter: 50.5mm.

18. NOTRE DAME DE PARIS Notre Dame is a Catholic cathedral constructed in 1163. It wasn’t completely finished until 1345. Despite its age, it is still being used today. Also, it is considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture throughout Europe.

20. EIFFEL TOWER Constructed in the 19th century, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most recognizable structures in the world. Named after its architect, Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch for the 1889 World's Fair. Upon its completion, the 1,063 ft. tall structure remained the tallest structure in the world until 1930.
21. CONTINUED EIFFEL TOWER When the permit expired, many people wanted it to be demolished but because the military used it for communications, it remained standing. It is the single most visited paid monument in the world. More than 200,000,000 people have visited the tower since its construction.

23. ARC DE TRIOMPHE This monument honors those who fought for France, particularly those in the Napoleonic wars. It was commissioned in 1806 after a victory at Austerlitz by Emperor Napoleon. It wasn’t completed until 1836. Underneath, is the tomb of an unnamed WWII soldier.
