• Leadership is the ability to influence
others, with or without authority
-Peter DeLisle
• It is also the ability to develop a vision that
motivates others to move with passion
toward a common goal
What Leaders Do
Leaders do 3 things:
• Lead – Doing the right things
• Manage – Doing things right
• Cultivate Culture – This is how we do it
1. Be Principled & Exemplary
• We lead others the way we lead ourselves.
Know yourself, cultivate and stick to your
values, demonstrate strong ethics.
• This provides people watching you with a
sense of direction.
2. Be Well-informed
• Master the past, study the present and
prepare for the future. Know the rules and
discover the lope holes.
• Remember, you can only connect the dots of
leadership looking back first before moving
forward forever.
3. Be Visionary
• Provide people with a clear vision to buy into.
4. Be a Coach
• Empower people to draw out their potential
through delegation, encouragement and
inspiration. Nurture and grow people
5. Be a Team builder & Team-player
• Provide an inclusive environment to foster
team spirit and a sense of connectivity and
belonging through effective listening
6. Be Approachable & Communicative
• Provide feedback to people, show openness to
new ideas and criticisms, be comfortable in
handling conflicts and prudent in resolving
problems.
• Where there is scarcity of authentic
information, rumor prevails
7. Be Decisive, Proactive & Firm
• Set SMART goals and outline plans to attain
them.
• Develop the habit of thinking on your feet and
thinking outside the box. No is no and yes yes.
• Take quick and timely action. Be bold to point out
the fault in team members, set healthy
boundaries
