The document provides information for a mentor/mentee social event held by a college Public Relations student association (FPRA). It gives potential mentees and mentors questions to consider for matching at the event. Mentees are advised to think about their goals, such as needing help with a program application or wanting PR experience. Mentors are told mentees may seek their advice on classes or internships. At the end, mentees and mentors will list their top choices and be notified of matches.

Questions for your potential Mentor
As a future mentee, it’s important for you to reflect on why you’re here today—are you
applying to the College of Communication? If so, what parts of your application are you hoping
for help with? Are you just looking for PR experience? If so, what kind of experience are you
looking for? What is your favorite part of FPRA? What attracts you to PR? Thinking about these
things beforehand will help you nail down exactly what sort of mentor you need, and help you
to form the most beneficial relationship with him or her that you can!
At the end of the event, you’ll be asked to list your Top 3 mentor choices on the back of this
sheet of paper. Your mentor will be decided for you following this meeting, and you will be
notified by e-mail.
Questions you can ask your potential mentors:
What kinds of experience have you had so far in PR?
What are your career aspirations in the field?
Can you help me with my CCI application/resume/letters of recommendation?
Are you involved in any other extracurricular activities outside of FPRA?
Did you attend the Orlando (or other professional networking) trips?
What do you get out of being a member to FPRA?
I have no idea what I’m doing in PR, but I’m excited to learn! Where do I start?

Questions for your potential Mentee
Being a mentor is a commitment to the development and growth of a budding PR professional!
Mentees will seek your advice on everything from CCI applications to internship placement to
what classes they should take next semester! We encourage you to reflect on what you get out
of your membership to FPRA, and why you are passionate about the field of PR. Remember, not
all of our mentees are or will become Public Relations majors, and that’s ok! We hope you’ll
encourage them to reach their fullest potential as future PR pro’s regardless.
At the end of the event, you’ll be asked to list your Top 3 mentee choices on the back of this
sheet of paper. Your mentee will be decided for you following this meeting, and you will be
notified by e-mail.
Questions you can ask your potential mentees:
What kinds of experience, if any, have you had so far in PR?
What sparked your interest in PR?
What are your career aspirations in the field?
Are you looking for help with anything in particular (CCI application)?
Are you involved in any other extracurricular activities outside of FPRA?
Did you attend the Orlando (or other professional networking) trips?
What do you hope to get out of being a mentee?
What do you like to do in your spare time?
What are you looking to major in and why?
