2. Accomplishments Wrote for the Federalist Papers. Washington appointed him as the secretary of the treasury. Established the Bank of the United States. Proposed a debt plan and got the debt bill passed in Congress in 1790. Had the new national capital be moved to the District of Columbia.

3. Beliefs Supported a strong central government in which to rich upper-class citizens held authority. He feared a mob rule. Believed that commerce and industry were important aspects to a strong government. Had a loose interpretation of the Constitution, therefore letting the government have more power. He pictured America’s government much like Great Britain’s. His ideas greatly contrasted his colleague’s (Thomas Jefferson) sparking harsh disagreements.

4. Importance Helped to create our nation’s first political parties. Established the excise tax to be applied to the manufacture of whiskey. This made many small frontier farmers furious and rebelled. Hamilton saw this as an opportunity to prove that federal government could enforce the law. This became a significant event in domestic affairs.
