Stefan Luchian fue un pintor impresionista rumano conocido como "el pintor de las flores". Nació en 1868 en Rumanía y estudió en las academias de arte de Bucarest, Munich y París, donde recibió influencias del impresionismo. A su regreso a Rumanía en 1893, expuso sus obras y contribuyó a mantener viva la tradición impresionista en el país a través de su enfoque en la selección de motivos y el uso del color.

STEFAN LUCHIAN, PINTOR IMPRESIONISTA RUMANO, NACE EL 1 DE
FEBRERO DE 1868 EN STEFANESTI (RUMANÍA) Y FALLECE EN
BUCAREST EN 1916. ESTUDIA EN LA ESCUELA DE ARTE DE
BUCAREST DONDE EXPONE POR PRIMERA VEZ. MÁS TARDE
ESTUDIA EN LAS ACADEMIAS DE MUNICH Y DE PARÍS. DURANTE
ESTE PERÍODO RECIBE INFLUENCIAS DEL IMPRESIONISMO.
DESPUÉS DE VOLVER A BUCAREST, EN 1893, PARTICIPA POR
PRIMERA VEZ EN “LA EXPOSICIÓN DE ARTISTAS VIVOS”. STEFAN
LUCHIAN CONTRIBUYÓ A MANTENER VIVA EN RUMANÍA, HASTA
BIEN ENTRADO EL SIGLO XX, UNA LARGA Y DIFUNDIDA TRADICIÓN
IMPRESIONISTA EN LA SELECCIÓN DE MOTIVOS Y LA MANERA DE
VER Y APLICAR EL COLOR.
FUE CONOCIDO COMO “EL PINTOR DE LAS FLORES”.
