Measures of action you can do in your local community to help the people of Haiti
The most important necessity for the current situation in Haiti is monetary donations. The
Canadian government has committed to matching every private donation for Haiti up to $50
million dollars. So let’s go and take action.

What: a network of Canadian NGOs dedicated to a united response in cases of humanitarian
crises. The members of the Coalition unite because they recognise the need for strong, decisive
action. At present, the Coalition has FOUR members: CARE Canada, Oxfam Canada, Oxfam-

What: The Canadian Red Cross Society provides disaster relief and humanitarian service to the
public through its international, disaster, injury prevention, and community-based health and
social services.

Feed the Children (FTC) Canada www.ftccanada.org
What: FTC Canada is a Christian, international non-profit relief organization that provides food,
medicine, education and other essentials to children and their families in Canada and
internationally. In Canada, FTC focuses on distributing food and supplies to children and
families in need. In-kind donations of food and other supplies from corporate partners are
received and distributed in cooperation with over 100 partner agencies such as the Salvation
Army, food banks, shelters, and churches. Commodities donated include non-perishable foods,
beverages, nutritional supplements, personal care items, household goods, medicine and
medical supplies, new clothing and educational supplies.

What: Mission Aviation Fellowship is a worldwide team of specialists, meeting the
transportation and communications needs of overseas missions and relief and development
3. organizations serving those living in the poorest and most remote parts of the world. Over 450
missionary staff families including roughly 50 Canadians and their families, perform specialized
tasks which aid the ministries of local churches and relief and development agencies through
aviation, and radio and internet-based communications.
