Imagine you are Carmen's mother. Write a letter to Carmen explaining to her the absence
of all these years (150-180 words). Add three reporting sentences.
Dear Carmen,
How are you? I really want to see you and Richie soon. It has been a long time since I don’t see
both of you.
I’m very sorry for letting Grandma taking care of you. She promised me she was going to protect
you until I ​had found a job to have enough money to feed our fami​ly. But when my husband died
and I went back home to take you with me, my mother claimed that I was very immature and
irresponsible to bring you up. She forced me to go away and then she kidnapped you. There is
not even a single day in my life that I don’t think about you. I’m sorry for having such a miserable
mother.
I know you are not going to believe that my mother, the woman who had raised you, betrayed
me and lied to you. But all I have just written is true. I just hope you can trust me, just as you did
when you were a little baby.
