The document discusses the advantages and disadvantages of working in different creative mediums including graphic design, radio production, and video game design. It then provides examples of projects created in these mediums. For graphic design, the document summarizes a poster created with a summer theme inspired by Coke advertisements. For radio production, it outlines an advert created for Coke set at a party. And for video game design, it describes a basic game inspired by Mega Man but featuring a character shooting bottles. The document reflects on strengths and weaknesses of the projects and how they could be improved.
3. Graphic Design Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– Is very good at expressing creativity
– Has loads of possibilities
– Can learn to be good graphic designing
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
– People can find it difficult to use
– May struggle to execute their ideas
– May bring up plagiarism issues
4. Graphic Design Production
Coke famously has simplistic
advertisement, specifically their posters.
My design has gone for the same
general idea but with a summer theme
My poster compared with an official
Coca-Cola company one have some
similarities but overall are different
takes on the product
Both posters include the featured product that they’re trying
to sell the difference is the official one has people holding
the drink and appearing to have fun. This connects to the
tagline, “Happiness. Coca-Cola” implying happiness is Coca-
Cola, while my design implicates that the drink just quenches
thirst and is sharable with your friends.
Other differences are that my poster doesn’t have a
hashtag or QR code for marketing purposes like the
real advert itself.
5. Graphic Design Production
Obvious Coke branding
Product slogan Seasonal theme
(Summer)
Shows the product
Dull backgroundLack of people
or references
Boring font
If I were to attempt making my poster again I would definitely put less time into trying
new and different things with the software as that took a lot of time to do, however I
would try new techniques to some extent. I would also include people and things in the
background to fill in the gaps.
6. Radio Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– Get to test using the programme and begin
developing your plan
– Working in a group helps split jobs up and gives us
all work
– Get to see if you’re good at using the media
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
- It may take time to get used to the programme.
– Ideas can be forgotten about
7. Radio Production
Our final product for our radio advert includes some aspects found in
most other advertisements made by their respectful companies.
As our plan stated we had the idea to set our advert at a prom or
really any party for that matter. We would then have one person
asking another out and they hesitate then drink a coke and answer.
Originally the ad was to feature an actor for each gender but this in
the production process showed to be a problem so we rewrite it to
be of two males which came off as a better idea; it adds a sense of
acceptance and political correctness which can be found in a lot of
modern adverts.
Compared to other radio
commercials for Coke itself. Our one
has more a plot, one could say it
would be a better advert for TV than
in your car.
Our advert also doesn’t include
some of the factors we put in the
plan such as the jingle and the
important voiceover these were last
minute mistakes though as the
mixture of timing problems and the
voiceover not sounding right with
the advert
Our radio advert
8. Radio Production
I’d say the strengths of our final product are
that is does manage to capture the idea of the
party and the couples proposal, though there
were a flurry of technical issues along the way
The weaknesses start in the advert when
the voice recordings come into play; the
recorder picked up background noise and
echo as a result, a lot of time had to be
spent editing the small voice clips.
However I’d say the major con of the
advert is the exclusion of the slogan that
was meant to be implicated near the end
Just some of the changes I would
make to the advert is the audio
clips, our group did as best as we
could to find perfect sound effects
but all good ones we found were
copyrighted or cost money in the
end we did the best with what we
found.
I would also attempt the voiceover
again and look for a location where
there is minimum background
action, and less disturbances.
10. Video Game Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– The programmes used can help express your
creativity of the work
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
– Some might not be a fan of the medium and this
can be shown in their work
11. Video Game Production
The similarities start in the
character design, especially with
the legs as I struggled to properly
make them at the get-go.
The overall look of the game is
very reminiscent of Mega Man;
elements such as he weapon in my
game and the ammunition metre
are heavily inspired by the classic
The gameplay of the games however, are
different in that in Mega man, the idea is to
collect new power ups and gain new abilities to
face new challenges. If I were to make my game
into an actual full featured product. It would
have none of those ideas, instead a man with a
gun shooting bottle-monstrosities
Coincidently the backgrounds are eerily
similar as well. Helping my game have the
retro feeling
12. Video Game Production
I made sure my game
includes some kind of a HUD
and in it I provided the life
counter, health bar and an
ammo bar once the player
has collected the weapon
In order to not have a boring
backdrop, I designed the
background to bring some
colour to the level, which
before, consisted of a dark
colour scheme
A big weakness I would mention is that
there could be some added sprites for
other elements, not just the character and
the enemy. For example, the clouds outside
could have been moving or the gun could
have been hovering up and down
Something I would implement
now would be a screen
showing ‘level complete’ or
something along the lines of
that
13. Comparison
• Which product do you believe advertises the
product the best?
In my opinion the best advertisement for coke that I
have created would be the poster as it is the most
popular form of marketing for them and out of all m
products, looks most official
• Which of your products is the most professional?
Why?
I would say the poster is more professional still; it
can’t really be that wrong, however the advergame was
my favourite to work on
