philosophical perspectives, such as Aristotle's and Mary Healy's, (2016). I will be differentiating the

encourage friendships in academic settings.
Friendship is a mutual bond between two or more humans requiring emotional vulnerability and
support, therefore "one cannot be a friends in isolation" (Healy, 2016) Friendship can also be
defined as a "curious relationship" (Healy, 2011:443) because it is comprehended as noticing
something different in an individual which encourages us to display dedication towards them.
Similarly, for a friendship to work, both individuals must be fully committed in "actively trying to

This is achieved by displaying goodwill, where they are constantly supporting, caring and having
mutual respect and empathy for each other's interests and values which shows an inclination "for

and desirable for both parties" as they would be more considerate of one another's feelings which

I was a sophomore in High School, Ellen was a freshman and by the beginning of the calendar
year, we were wildly popular, it seemed as if every freshman and sophomore on campus knew
who we were. We often dressed alike, something we retained from when we were children and our

Growing up I could identify my friends whom I found to be more sensitive, friendly and

There are many different types of friends and most of them can be placed into one of several
categories: closeness friends, party friends, work and school friends and the best friend.
The first type of friends, compared to the others types are the less valuable. This doesn't mean that
they are not good. They are parts of our everyday life. They are the ones who will help us to notice
some thing good. For instance, our new hair cut, they are the ones, which will turn our day from
ordinary to special. Closeness, they may be in the moment but you never know how close will they
become in the future.
Second type, party friends, friends with whom we are spending the best time in our day. So they
are special, maybe not the closest but like others worth of respect. For me they have super powers.
They are able to change our mood, positively. They are representing us in the best positive way.
Thru them we could meet new persons, which may become our good friends. They are the ones who
are all night beside us. Sharing every thing that is good with us.
The third type, work and school friends. Functioning in any kind of institution with out friends is
absolutely not possible. Not because that we need help, but we need to spend our time with some
