What does God’s Word have to say to us today?
1 Corinthians 12: 3b-13

4. 12:3b No one can say "Jesus is Lord"
except by the Holy Spirit.
12:4 Now there are varieties of gifts,
but the same Spirit;
12:5 and there are varieties of
services, but the same Lord;
12:6 and there are varieties of
activities, but it is the same God who
activates all of them in everyone.
12:7 To each is given the
manifestation of the Spirit for the
common good.

How:
Why: For the common good
PROBLEM?
When we focus on the wrong questions
We can miss God’s plan

6. 12:8 To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and
to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,
12:9 to another faith by the same Spirit,
to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
12:10 to another the working of miracles,
to another prophecy,
to another the discernment of spirits,
to another various kinds of tongues,
to another the interpretation of tongues.

7. What is the message for TODAY?
Focusing on Giver rather than the gifts
“I think I have…”; “I want to have…”;
“Why that guy has …?”
We can be caught up in the gifts that we forget the Giver
PROBLEM?
The Source being the same unites us…
Focusing on the different gifts alone divides us

8. 12:11 All these are activated by
one and the same Spirit, who
allots to each one individually just
as the Spirit chooses.
12:12 For just as the body is one
and has many members, and all
the members of the body, though
many, are one body, so it is with
Christ.
12:13 For in the one Spirit we
were all baptized into one body--
Jews or Greeks, slaves or free--and
we were all made to drink of one
Spirit.
