Join Microsoft MVP Joel Oleson and Scott Restivo CEO from Crow Canyon Software as they present and analyze these challenges, provide guidance and workarounds, and review solutions to migration from InfoPath. They’ll help you better understand the direction of Microsoft’s Power Platform, including its strengths and its gaps. One big gap is that PowerApps, despite its many good points, does not provide feature parity with InfoPath. This has left many people unsure how to proceed. They’ll look at these gaps and suggest solutions. What are you waiting for? Stop holding your breath and let’s get your InfoPath migration going!

3. Agenda
There are a handful of
remaining challenges to
your path to the cloud
or simply becoming
unlocked on your path
to what’s next. If you
decide on PowerApps
or third party tools.
4.
5. PowerApps is a fantastic
product, but it
unfortunately does not
seek to provide feature
parity which has resulted
in many not knowing
how to proceed.
8. Solutions for
“Print Ready
Forms”
Printing direct to a printer – Build it yourself for device and browser
capabilities and defaults
PowerBI Paginated Reports - Integrate your app or form with PowerBI. The
strategy for PowerApps is to become more integrated with PowerBI to allow
a common report generation story.
Microsoft Business Application Summit Vision and Roadmap session
reinforced path of PowerBI Reporting Services
“Report generation capabilities – People creating canvas apps with SQL
leverage SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). People using CDS are
leveraging the CDS reporting capabilities available to them (backed by
SSRS). More coming in 2020.
Fixed-layout documents optimized for printing and archiving, such as PDF
and Word files. Export options such as Export to Excel or PDF for printing do
exist
10. Rich XML
Parse XML using Flow - A possible workaround that could get the XML data is through
Microsoft Flow, then convert the XML into other data source, or send it back to PowerApps
directly through Microsoft Flow” v-micsh-msft Saving Entries into an XML Library
Export to PDF from Canvas app - The plan is to provide a simple way to export the contents
of a printable screen to a PDF from a canvas app, primarily focusing on the export form
scenario. More reporting capabilities in 2020.
Export to Excel– You can connect and write to excel today through a connector to write to
the templates needed.

12. Complex HTML and
Javascript Forms
PowerApps up to now have been a
focused mobile responsive
experience with PowerApps Studio
and Canvas Apps with blank canvas
or a template in modern UI. The
beta PowerApps Portals will bring
some further options, extensibility is
changing slowly over time.

14. From
SharePoint
List Form to
PowerApp
You can now easily customize any SharePoint list form in
PowerApps. You can access the properties for
the SharePointIntegration control only when the form is running
in SharePoint, not when you're customizing the form in
PowerApps Studio. SharePointIntegration control
communicates user actions between SharePoint and PowerApps.

Your portal should work anonymously and should be
accessible by the external users. If you want to try

Anonymous & External User Access
18. Power Apps
Portals
PowerApps Portals provide the ability to create a new
portal app which can be accessed by internal users,
anonymous external users, or by authenticating
external users with LinkedIn, local logins, Microsoft
accounts and many other identity providers.
PowerApps Portals will be licensed per the following:
• External users (authenticated) will be $200 for 100
logins/month.
• External users (anonymous) will be $100 for
100,000 web page views/month.
• Internal users are able to access portals using a
PowerApps per app or per user plan

“Going forward, we’ll be deprecating
the authoring capabilities of the PowerApps for
Windows.[…] The current studio authoring
experience in the desktop app will be deprecated
June 1st 2018.”
“Web Studio – has surpassed the Windows
desktop studio in both features and
performance.”
Web App Studio always updated with the latest
builds and allows you to work in your browser
whether you are at work or home on a Mac or
PC.
22. Offline client filler
Infopath had a client to allow you to have a rich offline
experience. PowerApps is slowly adding some Offline
capabilities, but different.
Offline capabilities for apps on the Dynamics 365 mobile app.
CDS Offline App Capabilities - When building solutions for CDS
there are options. Implementing Offline capabilities into your
PowerApps apps
Leverage existing formulas such as LoadData and
SaveData for basic data storage while offline.

Stand Alone
Licensing Plans
New and renewing customers will have the
flexibility to choose PowerApps per app or per user
plans.
PowerApps per app plan. Allow individual users to
run applications for a specific business scenario
based on the full capabilities of PowerApps. Pricing
will be $10 user/app/month.
PowerApps per user plan. Equip individual users to
run an unlimited number of apps, without any
feature restrictions. This takes the place of existing
P1 and P2 plans and will be $40 /user / month.
PowerApps users will continue to be able to run
