INTRODUCTION
 The word Witricity is
derived from
combination of words
Wireless and Electricity
 In 1891, Sir Nikola
Tesla Proposed a method
of wireless power
transmission. But it was
in radiative mode, so
most of the power wasted
during the transmission.
WHAT IS WITRICITY?
 The term WiTricty is defined as the ability to
provide electrical energy to remote objects
without wires using oscillating magnetic fields.
NEED OF WITRICITY
 The ever increasing power demand.
 The demand of Eco-friendly power.
 Requirement of efficient and reliable power.
 To reduce dependence on wires and
batteries.
 To overcome problem of power loss during
transmission.
HISTORY
 In the year 1891,Nikola Tesla
proposed the method of
wireless transmission of
Electric Power.
 The wardenclyffe tower
which could broadcast power
wirelessly using far-field
techniques.
 Called off as it radiated
power into surroundings
raising issues of
power loss

 In 2007,6 MIT members
headed by Marin Soljacic
were able to successfully
transmit power to a bulb
within a distance of 2m at a
freq of 9.9MHz using
concepts of non radiative mid
range energy transfer .

form of immobile electronic devices.
 2. AUTOMATIC WIRELESS CHARGING
Device with rechargeable batteries charges itself,for
any form of mobile devices .
 3.INDUSTRIAL
Would be free of heavy installation of wires and devoid
of any hazardous electric shock incidents.
 4.TRANSPORTATION
Could charge an electric car or automobile.

 Efficient and reliable power.
 Creation of a shock free
environment.
 Provides solution to the ever
increasing demand for power.
 A solution to reduce e-waste- a
more safe environment.
 A more cost effective
methodology for getting
electricity to your houses which
includes paying less for use of
power.
 For short and mid range
transfer system has to be set at
the right frequency or there
would be no power transfer.
 For long range the installation
cost is high while EMI is also
a concern.
CONCLUSION
 The transmission of power without wires is not theory
or a mere possibility, it is now a reality.
 The electrical energy can be economically transmitted
without wires to any terrestrial distance.
 The system would reduce the cost of electrical energy
used by the consumer and get rid of the landscape of
wires, cables, and transmission towers.
 It has negligible demerits like reactive power which was
found insignificant and biologically compatible.

Witricity: A World Without Wires

  • 3. INTRODUCTION  The word Witricity is derived from combination of words Wireless and Electricity  In 1891, Sir Nikola Tesla Proposed a method of wireless power transmission. But it was in radiative mode, so most of the power wasted during the transmission.
  • 4. WHAT IS WITRICITY?  The term WiTricty is defined as the ability to provide electrical energy to remote objects without wires using oscillating magnetic fields.
  • 5. NEED OF WITRICITY  The ever increasing power demand.  The demand of Eco-friendly power.  Requirement of efficient and reliable power.  To reduce dependence on wires and batteries.  To overcome problem of power loss during transmission.

HISTORY  In the year 1891,Nikola Tesla proposed the method of wireless transmission of Electric Power.  The wardenclyffe tower which could broadcast power wirelessly using far-field techniques.  Called off as it radiated power into surroundings raising issues of power loss Power theft Health concerns

CONTINUATION…..  In 2007,6 MIT members headed by Marin Soljacic were able to successfully transmit power to a bulb within a distance of 2m at a freq of 9.9MHz using concepts of non radiative mid range energy transfer . Resonance inductive coupling  Efficiency at that point was just approximately 43%

AUTOMATIC WIRELESS CHARGING Device with rechargeable batteries charges itself,for any form of mobile devices .  3.INDUSTRIAL Would be free of heavy installation of wires and devoid of any hazardous electric shock incidents.  4.TRANSPORTATION Could charge an electric car or automobile.

ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES ADVANTAGES DIS -ADVANTAGES  Efficient and reliable power.  Creation of a shock free environment.  Provides solution to the ever increasing demand for power.  A solution to reduce e-waste- a more safe environment.  A more cost effective methodology for getting electricity to your houses which includes paying less for use of power.  For short and mid range transfer system has to be set at the right frequency or there would be no power transfer.  For long range the installation cost is high while EMI is also a concern.

CONCLUSION  The transmission of power without wires is not theory or a mere possibility, it is now a reality.  The electrical energy can be economically transmitted without wires to any terrestrial distance.  The system would reduce the cost of electrical energy used by the consumer and get rid of the landscape of wires, cables, and transmission towers.  It has negligible demerits like reactive power which was found insignificant and biologically compatible.
