Full Potential Show Episode 6:
Taking Action, Even If You’re Not 100% Ready

H ello, I’m James Rick. Welcome to today’s Full Potential Show - where this is your
number one source for living your best, cutting your costs, and doing what you love.
Today is a very simple show about starting whatever it is that you want to do in your
life and not worrying about the criticism that is sure to follow.

You see, the Full Potential Show had its start in the very same way - raw, down and dirty. I just
said, “Let’s get it out there, and we’ll refine it as we go.” I have gotten plenty of criticism on the
first few shows, especially from industry veterans who say, “What are you doing? The sheet,
you know. The text, the graphics, the support, you’ve got to do this, you’ve got to do that.” You
know what? I accepted it all with an open mind and an open heart. Now this show will only get
better and better as we continue to enhance it. So, that’s how I started the show.

Even before that, seven years ago, when I started my call-center business, my outsourcing
business, I didn’t know what the heck I was doing, but I got into the business anyway and
naively sort of discovered my way through the school of hard knocks. Eventually, it became
what many would call a successful company. Again, I had no idea what I was doing. In fact, I
remember one of the very first, and biggest, investments that I made was in
a sign. I had probably $1,000 capital available to me at the time. I said, “I
am going to get a sign for $500. I’m going to put it on the roof, because I
know when people are aware that this company exits, people are going to
show up and they’re going to pay me money.” That wasn’t how it worked at
all. In fact, the sign was useless and I think a couple of months later, the

wind blew my sign over.

The important point here is that I got started. Even though I made mistakes, I got started.
Fortunately, the mistakes that I made weren’t critical, they didn’t kill me. So, I didn’t make any
critical mistakes, but I did make mistakes. I did get criticized, and eventually I found my way. I
found how to do things. I had a goal and I eventually found my way to that goal.

How can you apply getting started, down and dirty? Have you been
trying to perfect something, are you a perfectionist in many ways? Are
you afraid of criticism? Whatever it is that you might be afraid of starting
(but feels very close to you, in terms of something you’re inspired to do)
this show is about encouraging you to take that first step, to not be
afraid of the criticism. In fact, be open to it, because that is going to be
your path for improvement, that external feedback.

This is the Full Potential Show. I’m James Rick. This is your number one, non-boring source for
personal development. This is where you come when you want to live your best, cut your costs,
