Cadangan pembangunan 5 blok bangunan asrama pelajar 5 tingkat di Politeknik Tengku
Omar, Perak.
Percentage of Assessment: 20%
Submission Date: 2nd July 2015
Assessment brief
Based on the drawings provided, you are required to prepare a COMPLETE TAKING-OFF for the following
structural elements for the chosen building.
ļ‚· Pilecaps including excavations from reduce level.
ļ‚· Work below ground floor level including site clearance and excavation, ground floor slab etc.
ļ‚· All first floor to fourth floor slabs and beams
ļ‚· Roof slabs and beams
Notes:
ļ‚· Excavate topsoil 150 mm deep to be used on site, hardcore to be 100mm thick.
ļ‚·

Refer to matrix attached.
Teaching Objectives
ļ‚· To develop an understanding of the principles of measurement and techniques in preparing the
Bills of Quantities and Specification writing.
ļ‚· To develop an awareness of the nature, content, and significance of tendering and contractual
documentation.
ļ‚· To have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the Standard Method of Measurement in
taking-off quantities.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this assignment, students will be able to:
ļ‚· Explain and able to interpret clauses in the Standard Method of Measurement (SMM) and adopt a
systematic approach to take-off quantities from drawing for the various trades in relation to sub-
structure and reinforced concrete frame works.
ļ‚· Distinguish and illustrate differences in writing-up descriptions in accordance to design changes for
sub-structure and reinforced concrete frame works.
ļ‚· Evaluate the relationship between Specifications, Drawings and Bill of Quantities in Tender
Documents for sub-structure and reinforced concrete frame works.
ļ‚· Generate a conceptual understanding of and the ability to competently carry out the preparation of
the Bills of Quantities for sub-structure and reinforced concrete frame works.
Submission
Each section is to submit to the group leader in the following sequence:
ļ‚· Billing ( handwritten )
ļ‚· Query list
ļ‚· Taking off list
ļ‚· Dimension sheets
The Leader of each group is to collect from all the group members and attach the front cover page with the
names of group members. He is to compile every memberā€™s Billing in ONE Billing Paper only .and arranges
the rest in the following sequence:
ļ‚· Billing ( to insert in front of BQ and hand written )
ļ‚· Pilecaps including excavations from reduce level.
ļ‚· Work below ground floor level including site clearance and excavation, ground floor slab etc.
ļ‚· First floor slabs to fourth floor slabs and beams.
