Dreambox Learning
Differentiated math instruction to meet the needs of every learner
A truly adaptive online learning environment ensures that every student works in their optimal learning zone. No other program captures every mouse click to individualize based not just on right or wrong answers, but on strategies, to:
Provide literally millions of different paths through the curriculum, based on a child's needs
Support every student from struggling to advanced
Adapt the level of difficulty, scaffolding, sequencing, the number and type of hints given, pacing, and much more

• Mathematical understanding
does not progress linearly and
does not need to be learned in
a strictly linear sequence
• A sample landscape

Summary Report
Red flag
• Who has the flag and in what unit is the red flag?
• What would you report to the student’s teacher about
the red flag?
Orange bubble
• What could be the cause of working inefficiently?
• How do you correct the situation, brain storm some
ideas?
• Arcade option?
Who has the most time on task? The least time on
task?

1. Noah’s account.
a. Is Noah in the process of completing any
units?
b. If so, which unit? What grade level? How
much has he completed?
2. Have any students passed portions of a unit
pretest? Which students and how much have
they passed?
3. Why does Ramos C have checks with white
circles? What is he currently working on?

Common Core State Standards Report
1. What skill does Standard 1.NBT.3 cover?
Which students have passed a portion of the
pretest for that standard?
2. Cora is currently working on many
standards, which standard has she just
started? Which standard is she close to
completing?

Welcome to DreamBox Learning, I’ll be guiding you through an overview of DreamBox today.Big Monitor 2
So you can have an opportunity to share, as we go along, write down your questions. Pass that information to the driver at your location. The drivers can type those questions or verbalize them if they have access to a microphone when we pause. There will also be time at the end for a quick question and answer session. These are the questions that we’ll cover throughout the presentation: READ the SLIDE, click on each point.
“What is DreamBox?” Intelligent adaptive learning program accelerates student learning. rigorous mathematics curriculum, motivating learning environments and an intelligent adaptive learning™ engineDifferentiating instruction for each student in the class 1.struggling learners 2. advanced learnersReal time reporting on student progress and proficiency.
The student experience is Seamless with DreamBox. (CLick) The lessons, practice and assessments look identical to students. (Click) The lessons are not simply banks or practice items or simulated “worksheets.” (Click) Students need no prior instruction to engage in the lessons. They can start on day one of school whether they are in kindergarten or fifth grade.
Beginning:quick 8 to 12 question ‘pretest’ Looks like any other lessonStudent Skips the unit: understands the most difficult concepts Moves to next unit preasessmentDoesn’t pass the unit: (CLiCK)Assessment continues through lessonsCloses gaps quicker because more efficient
Strategies: how students accomplish an activity: one to one correspondence, 1-9 sequence when counting, counting on in order to addBig ideas: Understanding a concept like Subitizing, when you see five objects, you know that it’s five like on the face of a die and don’t have to count it each time. Or understanding a broad concept like the relationship between addition and subtractionModels: being able to represent your thought by modeling: modeling quantity with tallies, model with a math rack, and finally model with symbols to represent amountsFor each child, the landscape of learning is different. Some children need to pass through all of these landmarks in order to become proficient with addition and subtraction, others don’t need to visit every site. They can move on to understanding with fewer pit stops. In addition to the variability in visiting the landmarks, students have different needs in the order that they visit them.
Like our trip to Utah each year, DreamBox uses integrated assessment data to determine the individual learning paths of each child. multiple paths and destinations that two students encounter to get to a common destination. Move forwardMove laterallyMove back Fills in foundational skills31 studentsHow does DreamBox do this?
Because the path to learning is not linear, each child follows a different rail to the horizon and DreamBox has the flexibility to offer a personalized path to mathematic proficiency.
Interactive learning in which students are engaged in thinking mathematicallyAdapts based on students’ strategies, not just answersDreamBoxtracks response time, scaffolding needed, kinds of mistakes, efficiency of strategy, and much moreStudents aren’t passive learners in DreamBoxDreamBox is the only learning program designed with an intelligent adaptive learning engine. DreamBox starts helping students immediately and continuously assesses exactly where students are, and adapts to how they learn—in real time. DreamBox tracks not only if a student got an answer right or wrong, but HOW the student is answering a question, including what strategy was used, how much help or scaffolding the student needed, how long a student takes to respond to a question, and more! And DreamBox using this information DreamBox is constantly individualizing what each student sees next—in real time. In fact, as an individual student works on lessons in DreamBox, the program collects, analyzes, and responds to over 800 pieces of information every minute about that student and how they learn. That’s 48,000 pieces of data every hour! DreamBox provides THE most personalized learning experience possible…tailored to each child’s unique needs.

Now I’ll give you a quick demonstration of what the teacher dashboard looks like. While I go through the different aspects of the dashboard, use the username and password that I gave you to explore the dashboard as I do. Please save your questions for after this portion where we’ll take another few moments to discuss what we’ve seen.

You’ve seen these access points and how to use them.
Don’t forget about the Interactive Whiteboard tools that are accessed under the Resource tab in the navigation bar as “Teacher Tools.”
