FMP Evaluation

Production Process Evaluation
Research
• My research was very productive and allowed me to look at existing ideas so I could get
designs to help me with the final production process in my final major project. The strengths
of my research were creating existing products pages, for these I got a collection of images of
the same products that I wanted to make and see what made them good and attract an
audience and I did this for each different product. I made all pages for products I intended to
make which were Logo, key chains, T-Shirt, skateboard deck, poster and cover arts for CD’S,
Controllers and consoles-however in the end I decided not to make cover art for a console
because it seemed to much of a simple task and I already had enough products already
made. In research I also created a survey on survey monkey which got a wide variety of
answers to see what my recommended target audience actually liked, this was to see if they
would like what I would be intending to create. Even though if they didn't’t like the ideas I
was still set on creating all the products I said I would so it had no effect or change on the
products. In research is where I decided my audience and what they were going to be like to
buy the products for example their age. I do not think I could have changed anything to
better my research it had everything included in and more and it was extremely detailed and
understanding so you could see clearly where I was heading with this FMP.
(These are what all of my existing products pages looked like)
(This is where I decided what would go on
each of the different products and the
colour schemes of them)
Planning
• My planning allowed me to generate different ideas so I could allow myself to decide what to
make for my FMP. I generated many ideas using mind maps that went into detail about
specific things and lots of ideas which I wasn’t going to carry some of them through, so I
decided on that when I made my mood board. I got a collection of images of every different
product I could create and chose a selected few. The ones I didn't’t decide on I had already
created before on previous projects or they seemed to complex to make. Finally I decided on
my audience in planning, I went into lots of detail here to make it specific just to a certain
type of people instead of it being very wide range. I think that I could not change anything on
my planning PowerPoint, it is as good as it can be and I would not change it.
Time Management
• My time was managed well I think. I was on time for every deadline and sometimes finished
my work before which gave me a bit of time to look at what I wrote and if it was good. The
brand logo was created first due to the fact that every other product that I was making
needed this logo on it. The last design I created was the web page, this was because every
product I made was placed in this document. This is a table that I had made earlier on in the
project before going on to production and this was a great guideline and I stuck too it well
and followed it. If I had more time then I would have probably just ended up creating even
more products putting on the logo on all of them. I think the products and designs I made are
were great but of course there is always time for
improvements so if I had more time I would
have just tried to make them look even better
even though they look good as they are now.
This table is wrong because I actually had 2
weeks for making products and reflecting at the
same time so I just filled up my extra time with
making even more things leaving me with a
large total of pieces of work for my FMP. I only
just finished my web page at the last minute
before handing it in complete but I came across
a problem where I had too many products for
the page so I decided too choose the ones that look the best, which would draw in the
audience. For some products I couldn’t finish them until I got the fonts for them which you
can not download on a MAC so I had too wait until I could use a PC. I also had a problem
whilst writing up a page on my production reflection where my computer crashed but luckily
I save regularly so it didn’t set me back that much just about half a slide.
Technical Qualities
The text and logo is in a pixelated
font and is made of pixels I think this
was a good choice since it relates to
gaming. I think it looks great and I
wouldn't’t change it.
The wings are imaginative and
look good if they were touching in
the middle I do not think it would
work and would look too
cramped.
Black and white is simple
but effective and it works
better than colour as I
have already tested and it
suits the logo just fine.
This again has its own style. The colours suit great and
the pixels suit the game genre more. Mine would not
be in a circle like the other because then it will be too
large and too much stuff will be going on.
The web design has everything a
web page needs including all the
products and it looks neat in
different boxes. The top of the page
looks creative because it states what
its about and it has the logo and
what you can search for.
The web page layout was nothing like mine because
I wanted to create something different and unique.
Aesthetic Qualities
The own game brand was a great idea and
very unique. All the colour schemes were
vey similar with the greys and blacks and if
they weren't they were similar with the
dragons being green on the T-shirt and
controller and the red on the controller,
skateboard and key chain. If I had more
time have taken all of the text saying wings
quest and make it the same considering it
is its own brand. I think the best thing I
made on the project were the logo and key
chains because these showed some
characters linking to the brand and the
pixel work was fantastic relating to the
genre being retro and being the right size.
Out of everything I created nothing
became distorted when I changed the size
of them which turned out good for me. I
think that my biggest strength was sticking
to the theme and colour scheme that I had
chosen in my planning. My main weakness
was not going in to much detail in some
pieces, they look a little bit simple.
Aesthetic Qualities
These controller arts are very similar with their types of
art. Both of them are not the original colour which is
black but mine is more colourful and relates to the theme
of the game. They also have a centred head with a
dragon and a skull. The audience will buy mine because it
is more colourful, so this is seen as more energetic and
has the logo which is loyalty to a brand.
The existing one seems way
too bright and complex. It looks
like it will hurt your eyes
staring, mine is more simple
but fills up the board, catches
the eyes and looks idyllic.
The colours of both the posters are
darker and include similar images
and both have silhouettes mine are
just black and all the black is
connected running up the poster
where as the existing goes black to
white. If my poster had blue instead
of grey it would not contrast well
making the audience not like it
because they prefer darker.
The grip tape is a very
simple product but it just
makes a plain skateboard
look so more interesting
to the audience. They are
centred in the board so it
fills up a good amount of
space.
The colours of key chains are very similar the
logo is darker and the characters brighter. The
logos are in a circle but the existing ones chain is
a bit too short. The characters have not so simple
shapes making them more different from one
another, really interesting the audience.
Audience Appeal
The intended target audience are achieved in the products I made because it is a gaming brand
spreading over the variety of products and 10-20 is the general age for gamers which is why
they would buy my products . Every product that I have made I would say is intended for males
but some females might like them but a small ratio, they appeal more too the male gender
because they are darker colours and use more violent topics of gaming with deadly dragons, if
it was for girls specifically it would have been brighter. Geodemographically doesn’t really
apply to my product because they are different and unique and vary massively so if somebody
sees a product of my brand they are going too have to collect all the merchandise if they want
it all even more than others. The social grade is any and I would say I achieved this because
each different merchandise cost varies but the majority are under £10 which is a reasonable
price which should be affordable for a range of classes in the social ladder especially of my
intended target audience of middle class. My products were very appealing and looked good
so people would impulse buy them and they were general everyday objects that you see and
use, They were appealing because they used darker colours and cool styles for example my
skateboard with the graffiti style and they vary so you can collect lots of different merchandise
but it all has the same brand logo on.
Peer
Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
The layout of the website page is very easy to navigate.
The key chains have great designs. The logo has a very
creative design and realistic, the colours red and green
are consistent in the products.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
Could keep the font consistent.
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked how the brand was consistent and went
across every product made.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– You could have neatened up the lines on the
skateboard and key chains.
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I love the logo created with pixels because it really
suits the genre and the colour schemes are
consistent throughout all of your products
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– The disc sticker is too simple.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– The way it looks good because the colours are consistent as well as the
brand which goes across the entirety of the products. I also agree with
the comment about the sticker being simple but I didn't’t have any
more time to improve upon it.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree with the comment about the skateboard because it is
supposed to be larger for some of the lines to make it look like graffiti
art.
Peer Feedback Summary
For my FMP the only part I would like to change includes on the brand where I would make all of
the text on the logos across all of the products that have the writing. With just this I would say
there is nothing else to change because everything else is great. If I had more time I would just
create even more products and make tiny tweaks to a few I have already created like with the disc
maybe adding another white pixel image on it, But my main focus would be my top point. My time
was managed well. I was on time for every deadline and sometimes finished my work before
which gave me a bit of time to look at what I wrote and check if it was good. My colour schemes
were good and related well to the theme of the game. The idea was very unique and I believe I
pulled it off well creating a wide range of different products, I would not be able to create much if
I had chose another task to create like a magazine or advergames but this was a new project and I
had a lot of inspiration and fresh ideas.

7. fmp evaluation

  • 3. Research • My research was very productive and allowed me to look at existing ideas so I could get designs to help me with the final production process in my final major project. The strengths of my research were creating existing products pages, for these I got a collection of images of the same products that I wanted to make and see what made them good and attract an audience and I did this for each different product. I made all pages for products I intended to make which were Logo, key chains, T-Shirt, skateboard deck, poster and cover arts for CD’S, Controllers and consoles-however in the end I decided not to make cover art for a console because it seemed to much of a simple task and I already had enough products already made. In research I also created a survey on survey monkey which got a wide variety of answers to see what my recommended target audience actually liked, this was to see if they would like what I would be intending to create. Even though if they didn't’t like the ideas I was still set on creating all the products I said I would so it had no effect or change on the products. In research is where I decided my audience and what they were going to be like to buy the products for example their age. I do not think I could have changed anything to better my research it had everything included in and more and it was extremely detailed and understanding so you could see clearly where I was heading with this FMP. (These are what all of my existing products pages looked like) (This is where I decided what would go on each of the different products and the colour schemes of them)
  • 4. Planning • My planning allowed me to generate different ideas so I could allow myself to decide what to make for my FMP. I generated many ideas using mind maps that went into detail about specific things and lots of ideas which I wasn’t going to carry some of them through, so I decided on that when I made my mood board. I got a collection of images of every different product I could create and chose a selected few. The ones I didn't’t decide on I had already created before on previous projects or they seemed to complex to make. Finally I decided on my audience in planning, I went into lots of detail here to make it specific just to a certain type of people instead of it being very wide range. I think that I could not change anything on my planning PowerPoint, it is as good as it can be and I would not change it.
  • 5. Time Management • My time was managed well I think. I was on time for every deadline and sometimes finished my work before which gave me a bit of time to look at what I wrote and if it was good. The brand logo was created first due to the fact that every other product that I was making needed this logo on it. The last design I created was the web page, this was because every product I made was placed in this document. This is a table that I had made earlier on in the project before going on to production and this was a great guideline and I stuck too it well and followed it. If I had more time then I would have probably just ended up creating even more products putting on the logo on all of them. I think the products and designs I made are were great but of course there is always time for improvements so if I had more time I would have just tried to make them look even better even though they look good as they are now. This table is wrong because I actually had 2 weeks for making products and reflecting at the same time so I just filled up my extra time with making even more things leaving me with a large total of pieces of work for my FMP. I only just finished my web page at the last minute before handing it in complete but I came across a problem where I had too many products for the page so I decided too choose the ones that look the best, which would draw in the audience. For some products I couldn’t finish them until I got the fonts for them which you can not download on a MAC so I had too wait until I could use a PC. I also had a problem whilst writing up a page on my production reflection where my computer crashed but luckily I save regularly so it didn’t set me back that much just about half a slide.
  • 6. Technical Qualities The text and logo is in a pixelated font and is made of pixels I think this was a good choice since it relates to gaming. I think it looks great and I wouldn't’t change it. The wings are imaginative and look good if they were touching in the middle I do not think it would work and would look too cramped. Black and white is simple but effective and it works better than colour as I have already tested and it suits the logo just fine. This again has its own style. The colours suit great and the pixels suit the game genre more. Mine would not be in a circle like the other because then it will be too large and too much stuff will be going on. The web design has everything a web page needs including all the products and it looks neat in different boxes. The top of the page looks creative because it states what its about and it has the logo and what you can search for. The web page layout was nothing like mine because I wanted to create something different and unique.
  • 7. Aesthetic Qualities The own game brand was a great idea and very unique. All the colour schemes were vey similar with the greys and blacks and if they weren't they were similar with the dragons being green on the T-shirt and controller and the red on the controller, skateboard and key chain. If I had more time have taken all of the text saying wings quest and make it the same considering it is its own brand. I think the best thing I made on the project were the logo and key chains because these showed some characters linking to the brand and the pixel work was fantastic relating to the genre being retro and being the right size. Out of everything I created nothing became distorted when I changed the size of them which turned out good for me. I think that my biggest strength was sticking to the theme and colour scheme that I had chosen in my planning. My main weakness was not going in to much detail in some pieces, they look a little bit simple.
  • 8. Aesthetic Qualities These controller arts are very similar with their types of art. Both of them are not the original colour which is black but mine is more colourful and relates to the theme of the game. They also have a centred head with a dragon and a skull. The audience will buy mine because it is more colourful, so this is seen as more energetic and has the logo which is loyalty to a brand. The existing one seems way too bright and complex. It looks like it will hurt your eyes staring, mine is more simple but fills up the board, catches the eyes and looks idyllic. The colours of both the posters are darker and include similar images and both have silhouettes mine are just black and all the black is connected running up the poster where as the existing goes black to white. If my poster had blue instead of grey it would not contrast well making the audience not like it because they prefer darker. The grip tape is a very simple product but it just makes a plain skateboard look so more interesting to the audience. They are centred in the board so it fills up a good amount of space. The colours of key chains are very similar the logo is darker and the characters brighter. The logos are in a circle but the existing ones chain is a bit too short. The characters have not so simple shapes making them more different from one another, really interesting the audience.
  • 9. Audience Appeal The intended target audience are achieved in the products I made because it is a gaming brand spreading over the variety of products and 10-20 is the general age for gamers which is why they would buy my products . Every product that I have made I would say is intended for males but some females might like them but a small ratio, they appeal more too the male gender because they are darker colours and use more violent topics of gaming with deadly dragons, if it was for girls specifically it would have been brighter. Geodemographically doesn’t really apply to my product because they are different and unique and vary massively so if somebody sees a product of my brand they are going too have to collect all the merchandise if they want it all even more than others. The social grade is any and I would say I achieved this because each different merchandise cost varies but the majority are under £10 which is a reasonable price which should be affordable for a range of classes in the social ladder especially of my intended target audience of middle class. My products were very appealing and looked good so people would impulse buy them and they were general everyday objects that you see and use, They were appealing because they used darker colours and cool styles for example my skateboard with the graffiti style and they vary so you can collect lots of different merchandise but it all has the same brand logo on.
  • 11. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? The layout of the website page is very easy to navigate. The key chains have great designs. The logo has a very creative design and realistic, the colours red and green are consistent in the products. • What improvements could have been made to the product? Could keep the font consistent.
  • 12. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? – I liked how the brand was consistent and went across every product made. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – You could have neatened up the lines on the skateboard and key chains.
  • 13. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? – I love the logo created with pixels because it really suits the genre and the colour schemes are consistent throughout all of your products • What improvements could have been made to the product? – The disc sticker is too simple.
  • 14. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? – The way it looks good because the colours are consistent as well as the brand which goes across the entirety of the products. I also agree with the comment about the sticker being simple but I didn't’t have any more time to improve upon it. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? – I disagree with the comment about the skateboard because it is supposed to be larger for some of the lines to make it look like graffiti art.
  • 15. Peer Feedback Summary For my FMP the only part I would like to change includes on the brand where I would make all of the text on the logos across all of the products that have the writing. With just this I would say there is nothing else to change because everything else is great. If I had more time I would just create even more products and make tiny tweaks to a few I have already created like with the disc maybe adding another white pixel image on it, But my main focus would be my top point. My time was managed well. I was on time for every deadline and sometimes finished my work before which gave me a bit of time to look at what I wrote and check if it was good. My colour schemes were good and related well to the theme of the game. The idea was very unique and I believe I pulled it off well creating a wide range of different products, I would not be able to create much if I had chose another task to create like a magazine or advergames but this was a new project and I had a lot of inspiration and fresh ideas.
