• In Russia gastronomy there is abundance of fish,poultry,deer,wild
mushrooms,berries and honey.
• Abundant flakes of rye,wheat,barley and millet,all employees in variety
breads,pancakes,kvass,beer and the famous vodka.
• And finally,are very famous the different forms to do the soups and stews
with differents aromas and flavors all of this soups is made of meats and
fishes.
3. Costums
• if you're invited to a Russian home, it is normal and is "good education" to
bring a present. The most comun and normal is a bouquet of flowers for the
lady. For any other occasion, you can take a cake (tort in Russian), a box
of chocolates, etc.
• When you are entering in a house,you must take off your shoes and you
must to put other shoes that they will give to you.If you don´t put this
shoes they says you that you can´t enter at home,this costum is for have a
floor without dirt of the street.
• In Russia,sometimes,people,invited you at home to have a tea,or a
meal,always accompanied of cakes,sweets,pies,pastries and chocolates.Tea is
the most popular drink in Russia and in general people,drink this a lot of
times in a day.
4. History
• The history of Russia begins with the arrival of the Eastern Slavs, the ethnic
group that subsequently derive the Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians:
• The first oriental slave state was the Rus (or principality) of Kiev to adopt
Christianity for the important influence of the Byzantine Empire in 1988, thus
beginning the fusion of cultures that characterize Byzantine slave and Russia over
the next seven centuries.
• After the thirteenth century, Muscovy gradually came to dominate the former
cultural center. At the eighteenth century, the principality of Moscow had grown
into the vast Russian Empire, stretching from Poland to the Pacific Ocean. The
westward expansion fueled the Russian consciousness lagging behind European
countries and ended the isolation of the first times
• The military defeat in World War food shortages paved the way for the Russian
Revolution of 1917, which put in power the Bolsheviks led by Vladimir Lenin.
• The History of the Russian Federation itself is short, dating its birth to the
dissolution of the Soviet Union in late 1991.But Russia has existed as a state for
over a thousand years, and for much of the twentieth century the core of the
USSR, which Russia is a successor to legitimate and legal in the international
arena.
5. Traditional festivals
• The most important festival in Russia is the end of the year (1 of january).
• Another important festival is the March 8 (International Day of Women). This day
all men give flowers and other gifts mujerse all around them.
• A little earlier (23 February) is celebrated "Day of Defender of the
Fatherland", when women compliment and give gifts to men.
• The Orthodox Christmas is 6/7 January. Catholic Christmas (25.12). not held, is a
business day and any New Year's Eve festivities start at 31.12.
• Other state festivals are: May 1: Spring Festival and Labor, May 9: Victory
Day, June 12: Russia Day, Nov. 4: Day of People's Unit.
• The birthday of a person is also a major holiday in Russia, celebrated at home and
at work, with a festive meal and gifts. Valentine's Day (14 February, "the day of
love") is enough, especially among young people in the same way as in other
countries.
6. Flag
• A popular legend traces the origin of the flag of Russia on a visit to Tsar
Peter the Great to the Netherlands.
• The three colors come from the shield of the Duchy of Moscow, in which
St. George appears in white armor, riding a white horse, wearing a cape and
a blue shield on a red background. Although according to another
version, these colors would be to the robes of the Virgin Mary, protectress
of Russia.
• This flag, which was used as naval taught since the seventeenth
century, was taken to the merchant marine in 1705. And the May 7, 1883
was authorized their use on land, officially became the national flag of
Russia.
