5. BBC: Proper Messy SMS soap opera that weaved its way into audiences inboxes – and lives Users ‘formed’ the story by interacting via SMS like they would with their friends
6. Michael Jackson’s death The story unfolded on Twitter and SMS in the UK and Europe – because audiences had gone to bed Users ‘dwelled’ in the story using the rules of social media http://www.flickr.com/photos/raouldraws/
7. Osmos Survival story in an iPad game Engages touch and visualisation to ‘play the data’ and learn about biology and physics (no reading)
8. BBC: Shoot the Summer The collaborative story of one summer’s festivals Mobile was the tool that let users became participants; story creation was an event of its own

Editor's Notes
DEFINITION OF STORYWhy? Because people use mobile to tell and engage with stories.
I think mobile shifts us towards ‘dwelling’ and experienceDevices, applications and services will create the ‘narrative’ (rules) Much like Dorothy had magic slippers to make her ‘mobile,’ it wasn’t until she chose to use them to go home, that that became her story. She had the technology, but needed the instructions and motivation to use them to their fullest.
· Case studies where storytelling and mobile technology have combined well. - Drama: Proper Messy (iv4ever)- TREND: Serialised novels on BBM (and group text apps?!)(story forming)
News: Michael Jackson death over Twitter (ref Twitter CEO saying they’re a news org) – followed faster than any news org could; allowed for verification/validation (story dwelling – users followed the ‘rules’ set out by social media, the traditional media was pulled in to verify/validate)
- Sport/Factual: Touch-screen medals app for Winter Olympics (w/Schematic)What would happen if you could lay out the data for users to touch and sift in 3D space and give them UGC of the games to augment the data with? (story forming)

Location is key: The location you’re in – or you could be in. Peter Pan – Second Star to the Right and Straight on Til Morning (ref Arcade Fire video http://www.thewildernessdowntown.com/) Migration – learning about it via prompts based on what’s migrating near/past you Creating 3D space via AR (Olympics? Geochache?) – Where you COULD be – not where you ARE. (TELLING) opposite: 3D objects in 3D space (walk around them and view in AR)

Mobile can make technology “transparent”Transparent displays and display everywhere will change how we communicate

The ‘phones’ we wear will change how we tell and receive stories – wearable (both sensors and mini screens http://www.mobileuserexperience.com/?p=913) – lots of data – but what value can we create when we the data tells us about the collective mood of a family over time. Eg. Family in a time of tax cuts?
