Lesson plan in science and health 4
1. Lesson Plan in Science and Health 4
Digestive System
I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson pupils will be able to:
1. identifythe digestive system and its major parts;
2. give importance it’s part of digestive system; and
3. label the parts of digestive system .
II. Subject Matter:
Topic: Digestive System
Reference: Science and Health 4pp.40-41
Material: Computer (video clips)
Teacher’s activity Student’s activity
IIIIII. Procedure:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
- Let us stand to do the prayer.
2. Greetings
- Good Afternoon class
3. Checking of
Attendance
- Go back to your seats for the
checking of attendance.1,2,3. Okay,
Say present if your name is called.
- So everybody is around. Very Good,
okay give 5 clap to your selves.
- Do the prayer
Jesus, teach me day by day in
what to do and say. Make me
gentle and loving. Guide us
always and protect us in harm. In
Jesus name we pray.Amen.
- Good afternoon ma’am.
- present
2. 4. Reminders
- Please settle your account as soon
as possible because our Final
Examination was approaching, finish
to pay also your graduation fee.
- Do you understand?
B. Preparatory Activities
1. Drill
- Show pictures.
(Food,Stomach)
Who can describe what you observe
in the picture?
- Very good!
2. Review
- Who can say about our lesson
yesterday? Okay roxelle.
- Very Excellent answer.
3. Setting of Objectives
- (Read the objective)
4. Motivation
- Sing the song with action. I sing first
the song with the action then next we
do it.
5. Motive question
- yes we are.
-
- (Raise their hands).
- Our lesson yesterday is all about
parts of the body.
3. -what happened to the food inside the
body?
Did you eat this morning class?
What will happen if, you do not eat
food?
What is your favorite viand or food?
Did you know where did it goes and
process?
Would you like to know it?
C. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
2. “ Watch this video and note all the
important details”
(Using video clips)
3.
Di Discussion
-now you done watch the video.
So what our topic is all about ?
-nice answer.(click the presentation)
Everybody face at board and read the
meaning of digestion.
-it’s all about The digestive system
teacher.
4. -so, what are the major parts of
digestive system?
-very good. Now which come first in a
digesting food?
-what the mouth do to the food?
-okay very good(clickthe presentation
and the teacher read)
The mouth where food is partly
broken down by the process of
chewingand by the chemical action of
salivary enzymes (these enzymes are
produced by the salivary glands and
break down starches into smaller
molecules).
-After being chewedand swallowed
by the mouth, the food enters to? To
what children?
-so base the video you watch, can you
describe esophagus?
-(clickthe presentation and the
teacher read) The esophagus is a long
tube that runs from the mouth to the
stomach which after being chewed
and swallowedthe food by the mouth
- Digestion is the mechanical and
chemical breaking down of food
into smaller components, to a form
that can be absorbed, for instance,
into a blood stream.
- mouth, esophagus, large
intestine, small intestine, anus
- The process of digestion starts
from the mouth teacher.
- the mouth where food is partly
broken down by the process of
chewing.
-(raisingtheir hands) to the
esophagus.
- The esophagus is a long tube that
runs from the mouth to the
stomach.
5. it enters now here.
-after the food process from the
mouth to the esophagus, so where
the foods goes now?
-so now, what is stomach?
-(clickthe presentation and the
student read) okay, read the meaning
of the stomach class.
-class, as what you said, that the
stomach has a long/ large and small
intestine, so what do you think that
the food enter first?
-as you see the video, can you
describe the small intestine?
-(clickthe presentation and the
teacher read) very good!
In the small intestine - After being in
the stomach, food enters the
duodenum, the first part of the small
intestine. It then enters the jejunum
and then the ileum (the final part of
the small intestine). In the small
intestine, bile (producedin the liver
and stored in the gall bladder),
-to the stomach teacher.
-stomach has a long and small
intestine teacher.
In the stomach - The stomach is a
large, sack-like organ that churns
the food and bathes it in a very
strong acid (gastric acid). Food in
the stomach that is partly digested
and mixed with stomach acids is
calledchyme.
- the small intestine teacher.
-small intestine is narrow and
contains 25 ft. long.
6. pancreatic enzymes,and other
digestive enzymes producedby the
inner wall of the small intestine help
in the breakdown of food.
-from the mouth, esophagus, small
intestine. So we can say that the food
go now to the large intestine. Can you
describe what is large intestine?
-(clickthe presentation and the
student read) very good! Can you
read the meaningof the large
intestine?
-is large intestine is the last process of
digesting the food?
-so what is the last process?
-very good. So what is anus?
-excellent!Now give aroundof
applause to yourself and say “I am a
genius.”
4.
G Generalization
W –I have a picture here about the
digestive system. I want someone go
-large intestine is big tube of the
stomach teacher.
-In the large intestine - After
passing through the small intestine,
food passes into the large
intestine. In the large intestine,
some of the water and electrolytes
(chemicals like sodium) are
removed from the food.
-no teacher.
-anus teacher.
-anus is which the food goes out.
7. in front and take again the whole
journeyof the digestive system. I want
you to point out which the food come
first unto the last process. And give
the importance of it.
Application
-(groupactivity. Doing a presentation)
I will divided you class into two
groups. The first group will present
how the food reacts to the acidand
compare the result to the digestive
system. Then, the second group will
present using the two tubes that here
in front then differentiate them
according to the stomach.
-(student participate)
IV. Evaluation
_______________1.Itis part of the digestive system which process of breaking
down the food.
_______________2.Itis a long muscular tube that starts from the back of your
throat and ends at your stomach.
_______________3.Itis a pear-shapedorgan locatedin the upper left side of
abdomen.
_______________4.Itcompletes the digestion of foods.
_______________5.Itis a large tube where the undigested food goes.
V. Assignment:
8. Draw a sample digestive system of any kind of animals you want to
choose.
