This document outlines the timeline of changes to the flag of Peru from its creation in 1820 to 1825. The original flag was created by General José de San Martín in 1820. In 1822, José Bernardo de Tagle decreed a new design for the flag which was later changed again by Torre Tagle. Finally, in 1825 Simon Bolivar and Congress enacted a law that changed the flag design to the current vertical triband version.
