As software development teams transition to cloud-based architectures and adopt agile processes, the tools they need to support application development in this new world will change. In this session, we'll take you the transition that Amazon made to a service-oriented architecture over a decade ago, and introduce you to some of the processes and tools that we built and adopted along the way. We’ll share what lessons we’ve learned, explain how we’ve achieved better agility and reliability in our software development and deployment processes, and present an overview of tools we’ve used to help get us there that have since become services such as AWS CodeCommit, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeDeploy, and more.

HTML - HyperText Markup Language. Short for HyperText Markup Language, the authoring language used to create documents on the World Wide Web. HTML is similar to SGML, although it is not a strict subset. HTML defines the structure and layout of a Web document by using a variety of tags and attributes.

Maybe you can already recite the sales pitch for cloud computing in your sleep—how it’s faster, more flexible, and economical than amassing your own servers on site. But, as Joe Weinman argues in “Rethinking the Benefits of Cloud,” that’s just scratching the surface. In this exclusive white paper, Weinman, author of Cloudonomics: The Business Value of Cloud Computing, explores some of the overlooked—and more nuanced—business benefits of moving workloads to the cloud, such as faster innovation, global expansion, and customer satisfaction.

Tom DeMarco states that “You can’t control what you can’t measure”, but how much can we change and control (with) what we measure? This talk investigates the opportunities and limits of data-driven software engineering, shows which opportunities lie ahead of us when we engage in mining and analyzing software engineering process data, but also highlights important factors that influence the success and adaptability of data-based improvement approaches.

Writing and maintaining a suite acceptance tests that can give you a high level of confidence in the behaviour and configuration of your system is a complex task. In this talk Dave will describe approaches to acceptance testing that allow teams to: work quickly and effectively; build excellent functional coverage for complex enterprise-scale systems; manage and maintain those tests in the face of change, and of evolution in both the codebase and the understanding of the business problem. This answered the following questions, and more: How do you fail fast? How do you make your testing scalable? How do you isolate test cases from one-another? How do you maintain a working body of tests when you radically change the interface to your system?

Many people working in software development spend their careers without seeing what good looks like. Our history is littered with inefficient processes creating poor quality output, too late to capitalise on the expected business value. How have we got to this state? How do we get past it? What does good really look like? Continuous Delivery changes the economics of software development, find out how and why.
