TABLE is a pictorial representation of
numerical or non-numerical information
“arranged in vertical columns under
category headings so they can easily be

3. Difference
Spot Table – is a table of data, that is a part of a
prose paragraph or composition.
Non-spot Table – is a table by itself and not a part
of any developing prose text.
Simple Table – contains data comparable on only
one basis.
Complex Table – contains a large amount of data
structures in several columns.
Whether spot or non-spot, simple or complex, it contains either
numerical data or non-numerical data.
And, whether spot or non-spot, it may be simple or complex and vice versa.

5. CONSTRUCTING AND
INTERPRETING A TABLE
• Constructing a Table means converting a
body of written prose texts into a simple
table or complex table as a non-spot or spot
illustration.
• Interpreting a Table means converting a
table into a prose form.
Ex. The “Population Table” above shows that there were two
countries and the total population is 315,000,000. The respective
number of people on each country differ from each other. The
Philippines has a total number of 150,000,000 people while South
Korea has 165,000,000. Therefore; Korea has great number of
population compared to the Philippines.
