● So now it is more of a return to what Joe was doing for a long time before
● Money is important – non-profit organization don't necessary run at profit, but can't be run at lost.
● Non-profit organization are real business
● Joe was democracy and consensus type person before always. Now learned how top-down authority can be used in a
good way and how it could be done better.
● Spending a lot of your own time helps. Knowning your people and building relationship is 1st step prior building
business functions.
● In the case of aquiring new team in nerw culture/geo. Today KITD is considered a technical company and governed by
US law. For the company aquiring the new company need to understand if there is “cultural fit” which translates in “do
you just like the people” :-)
● Example in 2010 company was bought in Singapore. Cultural found a lot of synergy. Everything in Singapore business
done with letter of credit. If company does not insist on same way “it was always done. This is how we done it in USA”,
then in fact you can get a better local business did.
●

● What things enjoyed doing – execs. They don't have work they have meetings – it is crucial that everyone is on the
same page. Enjoyed meetings and driving of consistent messaging and helping people be aligning and to
accomplishing things.
● One of difficult thing – restructuring. A lot of work happening in spreadsheets. Sometimes decision is maid without
seeing actual people. If feasible if letting anyone goes – then would do it yourself and telling about decision yourself.
● After 2 years – being just intellectual is not enough. Be careful not fall into Assistant trap. Can't stay there long. Avoid
